December 2011- TROOPURRS TLC FUND.. Help a cat for the Holidays

All expenses to operate and maintain Troopurrs and provide medical care to the cats in our care are paid out-of-pocket and cost thousands per year. The majority of the cats that Troopurrs takes in are special needs cats who require costly medical diagnostics, medication, and/or special diets. With the help from donors like you we have been able to provide cats with much needed medical care, and this generosity and support helps make it possible. This not only includes routine care such as spay/neuter, vaccinations and parasite treatment, but also urgent and emergency medical care such as the repair of broken limbs (Mend Mojo Fund), extraction of painful teeth (Teeth for Taz Fund), treatment for a house fire victim (Mend Missy Fund), placement of a feeding tube (Sebastian Seeks Help Fund), and surgical correction of painful declaw re-growths (Make Butters Better Fund). Please consider donating to the Troopurrs TLC Fund and help our effort to continue providing the highest level of care that every cat deserves. Your donation can help save a life.

JANUARY 2012 NEWS

-Cleaning supplies (paper towels, disposable gloves, laundry detergent, bleach, trash bags) -Please consider a monetary donation to the Troopurrs TLC Fund and help provide necessary medical care to our cats.

Who We Are

Troopurrs Purebred Rescue & Rehoming is a private non-profit organization dedicated to the welfare of abandoned, stray and owner-surrendered purebred cats. We are located in Kenmore, WA and work with owners and shelters throughout the Northwest. The majority of our cats are relinquished from private owners who can no longer keep their cats or they are transferred into our care from local shelters. Troopurrs also assists owners in rehoming their cats in cases when they are able to keep them until a home is found.  Under special circumstances, Troopurrs occasionally works with non-purebred cats and kittens.

Troopurrs provides a relaxed rescue environment with medical and behavioral care plans for each cat. While Troopurrs' long-term goal is to of course rescue and rehome as many cats as possible, the immediate focus is quality of care and quality of life for each cat individually.

Adopting a Friend

Adoption fees typically range from $60-$120, with few exceptions. Fee will always include Spay or Neuter, FIV/FeLV testing, deworming, flea-treatment, microchip, first vaccines, and starter supply of food. Senior cats will have had a full senior blood panel and urinalysis.  Interested in adopting 2 cats?   We are happy to assist you in picking a purrfect pair of cats that can live together, when available.  Discounted adoption fees apply for pair adoptions.

We adopt only to homes where the cat will live exclusively indoors, no exceptions. If NEVER letting your cat outdoors does not suit your household, please let us refer you to other organizations or shelters which have a more lenient CONTRACT. We do not place cats or kittens into homes that practice declawing, due to the physical and behavioral effects that occur from this amputation. This is also part of Troopurrs' adoption CONTRACT. If, for any reason, you feel you must have a declawed cat, you can let us know and we can call you when we rescue a cat that is already declawed. Read more about declawing at www.declawing.com.

Adoption Requirements: You must be 18 years or older to apply for adoption. Renters must have written permission from landlords and be able to provide landlord's phone number. No second party adopters. If the cat will be a gift for someone, the recipient must meet the cat PRIOR to adoption. If there are children living in your home, we request they come along to meet the cat prior to adoption.

Troopurrs has an unconditional return policy for all adoptions (with 100% refund of adoption fee.)

Adoption Process

If you see a cat on our website that you are interested in, please follow these steps for adoption:

1.) Call us (425-359-1344) or email us (troopurrs@gmail.com) to let us know who you are interested in or what type of kitty you are in search of. Please tell us some brief information about your home environment (ie people and pets living in the home). This is a good time to ask any questions you may have regarding the cat you're interested in.

2.) We will email you an adoption application for you to fill out.

3.) After receiving the application back and upon approval of it, we will arrange a time for you to come meet the cat you are interested in. Meeting times are usually weekday evenings, or weekend afternoon/evenings.

4.) Please note that we are a small, private rescue and do not have a public walk-in location. For this reason, we need to receive your adoption application PRIOR to arranging a visit. This does not mean that you are in any way obligated to adopt, but this process allows us to make sure it is an appropriate match before coming to visit.

Surrendering or Re-homing a Cat

Owner surrenders and shelter transfers are accepted pending space availability.  Third party assistance from Troopurrs is available for help in rehoming your cat while they stay in your home, though this will depend on several things, including spay/neuter status, indoor/outdoor status, medical status, and behavioral status.  Troopurrs occasionally accepts non-purebred cats and kittens or assists in the rehoming of non-purebred cats and kittens depending on the circumstances and our availability.  Please call or email if you are an owner or shelter who needs to inquire on surrendering or transferring your cat.  Please include as much information as possible including breed, age, sex, spay/neuter status, indoor/outdoor status, medical status, behavioral status, and photos if possible (for breed identification.)  If we are unable to take your cat or help you in rehoming it, we will at least be able to offer suggestions or recommendations for other possible avenues.

Low Cost Spay/Neuter- "Fix Your Kitty!"

Spaying and neutering your animal is what YOU can do to help control the major overpopulation of cats. This will ultimately reduce the amount of animals that end up in shelters each year, as well as the amount that end up being euthanized because there simply is not enough space available. Spaying and neutering is good for your animal, good for you, and good for the community.
