Guardian Oasis II, The Animal Sanctuary's goal is to provide happy, healthy homes for all the animals that it adopts out. We understand that at some time in a dogs life, it may become unwanted for whatever reason. That's okay. We take in these dogs and work with them until they are fit to be adopted out to good homes. We are not a shelter and do not kennel dogs or lock them up all day. We train and socialize them until fit for adoption. A dog is never Euthanized because of space or curable health problems.
Because of this we are very limited on what we can take in at one time. As much we hate to turn a dog away sometimes it is necessary.
Guardian Oasis II Adoption Process
As with all things, there is an order to which adoptions of companion animals take place. Below is a summary of the actions taken in order to adopt out a companion animal.
Step one - On our side
All dogs available at Guardian Oasis II will be posted although certain requirements need to be met before the animal can go home.
All dogs will be spayed or neutered before leaving Guardian Oasis II. There are only few exceptions. One is puppies to young for surgery. Those dogs go home with a spay/neuter contract. No amount of money will change our minds, so don't ask.
All dogs will receive rabies and annual shots.
All dogs are dewormed and defleaed to the best of our ability.
For an additional fee dogs will contain a microchip which is injected the day before or the day of adoption, but only after the adoption fee is paid. This way we give the microchip company your info. No transfer of ownership paperwork.
Step two - On your side
After finding the dog you are interested in, fill out the adoption application. This application can either be mailed via postal service or email to
guardianoasis_animalsanctuary@yahoo.com. For postal mailing address, please email at the above email.
After receiving your application is recieved and reviewed you will be called to schedule a visitation with the dog you are applying for. This visit is to make sure you and your new companion get along and that all family members human and furred get along with your new family member before the adoption is finalized.
Step Three - Going Home
If everything works out and the dog has all the requirements needed to be available for release from Guardian Oasis II, an adoption contract is filled out and signed and adoption fee paid.
In some cases, dogs would be better off going to their new homes before they have completed all their release requirements. These are few, but some dogs don't handle the environment as well as others. With these animals, the adoption contract contains the information on what the dog needs and the approximate *if not exact) date in which we plan to do it. With this on the contract, the adoptee is agreeing to provide the dog for such requirements or risk the dog being reclaimed by Guardian Oasis. Again, these are few and far between, but it does happen and we never seem to have enough foster homes.
I hope this helps you in your decision to adopt from Guardian Oasis II.
