Who We Are
The Blue Mountain Humane Society is private non-profit charitable organization incorporated in Washington State. Founded in 1967, the Society's mission is: "To prevent cruelty and promote kindness to companion animals in our community."
We seek to accomplish that mission through operation of our animal shelter, providing education programs, animal control services and cruelty and neglect investigations. Funding for our efforts come from the operation of our thrift store, municipal contracts, shelter and impound fees, membership dues and generous donations from people like you.
Adopting a friend
All animals are spayed/neutered and have their vaccinations before adoption. Dogs over the age of 3 months have a current rabies vaccination and records. All cats are tested for FELV/FIV before they are put up for adoption.
Adoption fees are:
$55 for cats regardless of age; $80 for medium and large breed dogs; $140 for puppies under 6 months; $140 for small breed dogs; $250 for pure bred dogs; $140-$250 for highly desirable dogs.
We carefully consider each application to determine appropriate home settings for each animal. This includes a fenced yard when necessary, ages of children, and landlord approval if needed. Our goal is to find forever homes for each animal.

From Second Street, travel under highway 12 overpass, keeping to the right at the Y. At the stop sign turn right on Rees Avenue, continue two blocks, turn left on Burns, Humane Society located at the end of Burns.
The Shelter is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Noon to 6 pm and on Saturday 10 am to 4 pm. We are closed to the public on Wednesday and Sunday.
