Fat Cat Cattery and Rescue
Our Featured Pet...
Maggie May is a beautiful kitty with a blend a dark and light brown coloring. Maggie has a wonderful personality considering what she has been through in her short life of 7 months. When Maggie was rescued from an abusive situation she was very malnourished and scared. Now she is a thriving and mischievous kitten. Maggie is very loving and playful. Her favorite toys are any with feathers and the laser light. She loves being petted and hugged but is a wiggle worm. Maggie needs additional time to become friends with other cats as she had to compete with them and the dogs for food. Maggie has her own dish for wet food. She does share water and dry food bowls.Maggie is spayed and current with all of her shots. She has excellant house manners. Maggie along with all of our cats need to find their forever homes. We have house cats and several outdoor/barn cats available. If you are looking for a cuddly, healthy, lap cat, or barn cat, you can do no better then adopt from Fat Cat Cattery and Rescue where all our cats are pampered even the barn cats!
News
We have downsized considerably as Fat Cat Cattery & Rescue was operating at such a deficit. We are only rescuing kittens or cats under a year old as it is easier to integrate them into the household. Our shelter is cage free. The F.C.C.R. contact is 425 609 1897 or you can email us at furball@fatcatcattery.com or mamacat@fatcatcattery.com. Remember, F.C.C.R. is a small rescue and we keep all our kittens/cats in a home environment so space is limited. We are here for sick, abandoned or unwanted kittens and only rescue cats if they are abandoned and sick. We will not accept a household cat because it is no longer convenient or impossible to keep.
Who We Are
In July of 2005, I was given a kitten that obviously had some brain damage. His name was Charcoal and his mother probably had a viral infection while he was in the womb. He was so sweet and cute; my husband and I fell in love with him immediately. Well..... to make a long sad story shorter, Charcoal eventually died and it broke my heart. So, in memory of Charcoal, we have decided to dedicate our time and ten acres to cats and kittens who need any nursing, loving, playing, gentling, boarding or just a home to be in. As well as taking any abandoned or homeless cats and kittens, we also foster sick kittens for an animal shelter and then return them for adoption. When kittens/cats are taking a long time to heal and/or there is a possibility of euthanasia, I adopt from the shelter and take them into our family. I have a four bedroom home; none of my cats are in cages because we all share the living space. All my cats live together with me as one big happy family!
Adopting a friend
When you are ready to find a new cat companion, we are waiting here for your visit. Even though our number of cats are down, I still believe we can find the perfect cat for you; if not here, then at another shelter. We still have quite a variety of colors, coats and character. It has been my experience that looking for cats/kittens with certain personality traits is a more successful match then choosing because of looks. Either way, come spend an hour with us to cuddle, carouse and fall completely in love. Anybody who has spent time with cats knows that they are fickle creatures. I will apologize up front if the kitten I said was cuddly and sweet, decides to run up your bare leg and attack your finger. My cats and kittens are not in cages, so docile is not in their nature (why should it be?; it starts with DO just like DOg). However, the cats will be charismatic, cantankerous, and captivating. When you have decided on a “soul kitty”, there is an application and contract. The adoption fee is $150, this includes all medical records, a small supply of dry food for the transition, a favorite toy and/or any specialty items the cat might use and a carrier. The cats are altered, flea and worm treated, micro-chipped and current with inoculations. I will be available to answer questions or provide feedback after you get your companion home; e-mail and/or phone calls will be promptly answered. It is enjoyable to stay involved with your bonding experience and I learn something new every time. If the match does not work out within the first two weeks, we will refund your adoption fee no questions asked. After two weeks, there is no refund, but you still must return the cat to Fat Cat Cattery per the contract. I will come pick up the cat if necessary, but there is a $25 service fee. If we work together on the selection process and help each other out through the bonding period, I believe you will successfully add a new companion and devoted friend to your family.
If you can’t adopt a cat, but want to help, ask about our foster program. A one-time donation or a monthly amount will feed, house, and provide medical attention for abandoned, injured or sick kittens. You may even select which cat(s) you want to foster and you will receive pictures and a “cat”ography.
