Who We Are
Kindred Souls Foundation provides sanctuary to abandoned, abused, and neglected cats and dogs of all ages, a holistic approach to their care, and education on the rewards and responsibilities of animal companionship.
Kindred Souls Foundation is a non-profit organization committed to animal welfare advocacy. Through our specially designed programs, community involvement, and networking with other organizations, we strive to ensure all animals with whom we come into contact are given the opportunity to be loved and well cared for.
Our Board Members and Volunteers are dedicated to encouraging compassion towards all animals.
Adopting a friend
1. Kindred Souls Foundation’s view on adoption: It is our intent to find the most suitable homes for the animals in need of adoption. This requires extensive profiling of the animal and the adopting family. Placing the appropriate animal with the appropriate family will lead to a long-term relationship where both adoptee and adopter will benefit.
2. Kindred Souls Foundation’s animal companion pre-adoption profile: Each animal from our foundation is placed in a screened foster home where the animal’s needs are assessed and a profile is developed. Our holistic approach to the animal’s care ensures that all components of their being (medical, physical, emotional, and spiritual) are taken into account when finding them the most appropriate home environment.
3. Potential adopter screenings: It is our belief that animal companions should not be placed in a home until the home and adopting family have been screened to ensure a proper "fit". We require an application be completed and reviewed by Board members; an in-person interview be conducted; and a home inspection be done prior to adoption approval.
4. Available animal companions: All animals available for adoption are listed on our website. If you are seeking a specific type of animal not listed on our website, then please contact us to be placed on a waiting list.
5. Meeting the animal companion: appointments to meet the animals are coordinated with the current foster parent and/or a Kindred Souls Foundation representative. Please call us to make an appointment or to find out when our next Meet and Greet will take place.
6. Application process: Download and fill in an application from our website. All completed form applications are mailed to:
Kindred Souls Foundation
ATTN: Adoption Services
P.O. Box 88627
Steilacoom, WA 98388
In-person interviews and home studies will be scheduled upon reviewing completed applications.
7. Adoption package: All animal companions adopted out of our foundation will have had a Well Pet Exam, be current on vaccines (cats: FDV-RC, Rabies; dogs: DHPP, Rabies) according to age, de-wormed and de-flea'd. Cats will be tested for Feline Leukemia and cats 6+ months of age will be tested for FIV. Depending on the animal's age, he/she will be neutered/spayed prior to adoption.
Some of the animal companions are too young to be altered at the time of adoption. As determined by KSF, we will either pay to have Chamber's Creek Veterinary Hospital perform the spay/neuter at 5-6 months of age, or we will refund you $25 of the adoption fee upon receiving documented proof from the animal's veterinarian that the procedure was performed.
8. Adoption fee per animal: Cats $95; Paired cats $175 (>10 years) or $150 (<10+ years); Dogs
$125. The intent of our adoption fee is to ensure that a value is attached to the animal companion.
While we feel that each animal is actually invaluable, we must ensure for a serious commitment.
100% OF THE ADOPTION FEES GO TOWARDS THE MEDICAL CARE COSTS OF KINDRED
SOULS ANIMALS.
