Hours
Shelter (Adoptions & Stray Reclamation): Wednesday through Sunday, 12 noon - 6 pm.

Administration: Monday - Friday, 9 am - 5 pm.

Spay\Neuter Clinic: Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm. Appointment required.

Pet Licensing: Wednesday through Sunday, 12 noon - 6 pm.

Field Services: Seven days a week, 9:10 am - 6:30 pm.

Adoption Policies
All adoptions require a written application and an interview with an adoption counselor.

Description
Seattle Animal Shelter provides field services to residents of Seattle, including neighborhood dispute mediation, nuisance animals, vicious animals/dog bites, and animal cruelty investigation. Seattle Animal Shelter handles approximately 8000 animals every year. Shelter staff assist owners locating their lost pets as well as helping adopters pick appropriate new pets. The agency also runs a municipal spay\neuter clinic that is open to the public.

Fees
Adoption Fees

The adoption fee varies from $5 - $180 for cats and dogs. All dogs & cats adopted from SAS are vaccinated, wormed, spayed or neutered, and implanted with a microchip identifier. Cats are tested for Feline Leukemia. Dog and Cat adoptions for Seattle residents include pet licenses as well. The adoption fee is $5 for all "Critters". All rabbits are spayed or neutered and implanted with a microchip identifier. A certificate for a free health exam at virtually any local veterinary hospital in King County is donated by the Seattle-King County Veterinary Medical Association.
