WABR took in 17 bassets from a Puppy Mill. Most are female breeders. These sweet ladies have spent thus far in the lives producing puppies for Pet Stores, they deserve loving family homes. Please consider one of these darling houndies. For more information go to www.wabr.net.
Who We Are
Washington Basset Hound Rescue is a nonprofit basset welfare organization. We cover Washington, Idaho, and some bassets from Oregon and Montana. All bassets stay with us. We feel the need to spend time with our rescue bassets to get to know their personalities, so we can make matchable placements. All bassets are spayed/neutered, given their immunizations including Rabies. They are vet checked and Micro Chipped.
Most of our bassets are owner turn-ins, we also takes those that do end up in the shelters. Having developed a good repore with the shelters, the shelters encourage people to turn their bassets into to us, thus the shelters are not overloaded with bassets.
Adopting a Friend
Our adoption application (see on www.wabr.net) is used to help in placing rescue bassets with the right families. A fenced yard is required and home inspections are conducted. Bassets are placed on a two-week trial visit, giving families time to ensure the basset and families mesh. Donation/Adoption fee is $125, this barely covers S/N, immunizations, vet expenses and microchip. Senior adoption fee will be reduced.
