Effective Sunday, February 27, 2011, the Everett Animal Shelter will be open for all business from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week. Adoptions end 15 minutes prior to closing in order to accommodate the completion of all necessary paperwork.
In order to accommodate our monthly staff meetings in 2011, the shelter will open for all business at 1 pm on the following dates: Thursday, November 3 and Tuesday, December 6.
 Our dogs and cats love to sleep on Kuranda beds, but we don't have enough for everyone. If you would like to donate a bed at a special wholesale price for a another dog or cat to sleep in comfort, please donate a Kuranda bed
The shelter currently needs the following donations:
For Dogs:
Canned dog food
Thick nylon 6 foot leashes
Frontline Plus for dogs 89-132 lbs
Revolution for dogs 80-130 lbs
Classic Kongs-large and extra large in red or black
Martingale style collars
Greenies pill pockets
Hot dogs for training. It's fine to bring them in frozen.
For Cats
Dry cat food (Kirkland, Wellness and Felidae)
Royal Canin Baby Cat food

Fresh fruits, veggies and Timothy hay for our small animal population.

The Everett Shelter has moved to its new facility, and is open for business beginning April 3, 2009! We are now located at 333 Smith Island Road, in Langus Riverfront Park.
From Downtown Everett:
Take Broadway Ave north from Downtown. Broadway becomes Hwy 529; take that across the Snohomish River bridge and take a right onto 28th Pl, following signs for the Animal Shelter and Langus Riverfront Park. At the next intersection, turn right onto 35th Ave NE. Continue to stop sign and turn left onto Ross Ave and follow the road past Dagmar's Landing until you come to the 'Y' in the road at the 12th St Bridge over I5. Turn right onto Smith Island Rd. The shelter is the large red building on the left side, about a mile down the road.
From the South:
Take exit #195. Turn left onto E. Marine View Dr. Continue 1.2 miles and take a left onto the entrance ramp onto Hwy 529. Cross the Snohomish River bridge and take a right onto 28th Pl, following signs for the Animal Shelter and Langus Riverfront Park. At the next intersection, turn right onto 35th Ave NE. Continue to stop sign and turn left onto Ross Ave and follow the road past Dagmar's Landing until you come to the 'Y' in the road at the 12th St Bridge over I5. Turn right onto Smith Island Rd. The shelter is the large red building on the left side, about a mile down the road.
From the North:
Take I-5 exit #198 (N.Broadway) at Marysville. Go approximately one mile to the Frontage Rd exit, following signs for Langus Park and the Animal Shelter. Follow the road past the curve under the Hwy 529 bridge to the stop. Turn to the right onto Ross Ave and follow the road past Dagmar's Landing until you come to the 'Y' in the road at the 12th St Bridge over I5. Turn right onto Smith Island Rd. The shelter is the large red building on the left side, about a mile down the road.
Parking is available in the lot on the south side of the building, on the east side of Smith Island Rd or in the boat launch parking across the street.

Monday - Sunday: 10am - 5pm
Adoption and Viewing Hours:
Monday - Sunday: 10am - 4:45pm
Policies:
The shelter is required to hold stray dogs and cats for a minimum of 72 hours for owners to claim. After the
dog or cat is made available for adoption, there is no set time that we hold them. This all depends upon the animal's temperament,
health and available space in the shelter. We will not "reserve" an animal for anyone. However, we will hold an animal for up
to an hour for an interested person to get cash, written permission from their landlord, or to bring a family member to view
the pet. Animals will be spayed or
neutered before being released to the adopter.

Volunteer Program:
The Everett Shelter has established a volunteer program which includes the following: Canine
Companions, Feline Companions, Rub-A-Dub-Doggie, PetShelter Network, Rescue Group Transport, Community Education and
Awareness. Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age. We also offer a Junior volunteer program for ages 13 - 18. Shelter Volunteers: Enhancing the lives of lost, unwanted, and homeless pets.
Mission:
The Animal Control Department's mission is to encourage, secure, and enforce those animal control
measures deemed desirable and necessary for the protection of human health, safety, and welfare and, to the greatest extent
possible, prevent injury to property and cruelty to animal life.
The Shelter temporarily houses stray and abandoned companion animals. These animals, in many cases, are made available for
adoption to the public. Contracts are maintained with other jurisdictions, such as unincorporated Snohomish County, for use of
shelter facilities.
