POPP Adoptable cats are also available at: PetSmart in Kennewick on Saturdays from 11am-4pm and Sundays from 12pm-4pm and daily at PetCo in Richland.
Our goal is to find homes for deserving animals and continue to increase awareness in our community about the pet overpopulation crisis. Our message to all pet owners is "prevent a litter, spay or neuter your critter."
About POPP
POPP operates a limited foster/adoption program for dogs and cats that are in need of new homes either because they have been abandoned or their present pet guardian can no longer care for them.
The pets live in either foster homes or the guardian-surrendering home where they are loved and cared for as part of a family. This is especially beneficial as it allows POPP adoption counselors to match a pet's personality and needs with the potential adopter's pet preferences.
Because the primary goal of POPP is to end the pet overpopulation crisis in our community, all of our pets available for adoption have already been spayed or neutered.
POPP is a 501 (c)(3), local non-profit, all-volunteer, no-kill pet organization dedicated to promoting responsible pet ownership and preventing the needless death and suffering of companion pets.
In 2008 POPP placed over 483 pets! That is pretty amazing considering we operate with 5 to 10 foster homes at any given time. We couldn't do it without our foster homes and with their understanding and patient families. There are also countless people in our community that take in strays and care for them until we can find homes for them. Thanks to everyone who works so hard to ensure these foster pets are well taken care of before they find their "forever homes".
People contact us when they can no longer care for their pets because they are moving, are allergic, have too many pets, found a stray, etc. We make the owners responsible for altering their pets and for ensuring they are current on their vaccinations. Our goal is to find forever homes for the pets.
POPP is an all-breed, no-kill organization. Our policy is to assure pets are housed until they find their "forever homes".
We do not operate at a profit. The adoption fees we receive do not cover our foster pet expenses.
We do not buy and sell animals on a "consignment" basis.
We are an all-volunteer organization. There are no set hours for us to be available to the public. We fit this in with our jobs and families.
The cost of housing, food, and veterinary care are supported by the generous contributions of concerned pet lovers.
Adopting a Friend from POPP
We love being able to place our foster pets in their forever homes. We have a variety of pets available. Our knowledge of the pets is first-hand (good with pets, housebroken, likes/dislikes cats, likes/dislikes dogs, etc.).
Our adoption fees are $100 for dogs, $125 for puppies, $60 for cats and $75 for kittens. All dogs, puppies, cats and kittens are spayed/neutered prior to adoption. You can take pride and comfort knowing your adopted family member will never contribute to the pet overpopulation crisis in our community.
