Before you fill out an application please be sure that a Rescue is the option through which you are going to choose to add an addition to your family. We are all volunteers at Potter’s Angels Rescue- most with full time jobs and families in addition to volunteering and going through the entire adoption process with an applicant that then purchases a dog takes up a fair amount of precious time. We would like our volunteers to focus their efforts and time on those applicants that are serious in helping a rescued animal.
Here at Potters Angels Rescue, we strive to adopt our animals out to the best matches possible for them. This means that an animal other than the one who initially catches your eye may be a better fit for your home and lifestyle.
Our policy is to adopt to people that are 21 years of age or older. This is not a first come/first served procedure as we take great care in matching our dogs to prospective homes. Please be aware that a representative will contact you as soon as possible when you either make an inquiry or complete an application, however ‘as soon as possible’ does not mean immediately nor an exact amount of time as we are volunteers. It means just that- as soon as we possibly can.
After the references have been checked on your application, you can expect a call from one of our representatives as soon as we can. This is in order to address any concerns regarding your application and gives you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have thought of since completing the application. After this a home visit will be scheduled with a representative and the adopter. It is required that and everyone in the household be present including the 4 legged members. If possible this will also be when the potential adopter meets the dog; although occasionally due to distance that will require a second meeting.
The dog is NOT adopted at this point. Once the representative completes the home visit they meet with the board for the final decision. You can expect a call shortly thereafter with our decision. The adopter will be expected to travel to a representative’s home to pick up their new family member and finalize the adoption.
If you have found a specific animal you are interested in, please list the animal on the application. If you have questions about a specific animal, please send us an e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org. We will then have the animal’s foster parent get in contact with you.
We are emotionally tied to the animals we rescue and remain committed to the animals and their adoptive families for their life. If there is a problem in keeping the adopted animal at any time during their life, we require that the animal come back to us for re-homing.
Additionally, if there are problems or concerns with the health or well-being of an animal, we are there to help the adoptive family with the support they require.
Potter’s Angels Rescue (PAR) is an animal rescue group based out of the New England area that is dedicated to placing unwanted or neglected animals in loving and everlasting homes. With the economy the way it is, we are getting more and more requests for finding homes for animals that are being left behind by their owners due to moving, increased work hours, lack of time for the dog or the inability to afford the dog and it’s vet care. We also assist local animal control officers in placing our local stray population, as well as responding to neglect and cruelty complaints.
Here at PAR, we do require that all animals are spayed/neutered and made current on all their vaccinations before being placed for adoption, which is why we request an adoption fee.
Our main goal is to make sure the animals that we come across make it in to homes where they are well loved and taken care of throughout the rest of their lives. It is a very sad thing to witness the emotions that an animal goes through when they are removed from their family and we would hate to think of them going somewhere that was anything less than a loving home.
Potter’s Angels Rescue is a 501 c.3 non-profit organization consisting of passionate volunteers dedicated to putting an end to the pet overpopulation crisis that plagues the United States. We temporarily provide sanctuary in approved foster homes to abused, neglected, stray, and unwanted animals without discrimination, until we can place them in to carefully screened homes. We also provide these animals with all the medical care that they need prior to placement in everlasting homes, including but not limited to spaying/neutering.
As a group that sees the individuality and potential of each and every dog we believe in their ability to rehabilitate given the proper environment. Due to this philosophy we are often the only or last chance for dogs in our area that are considered “unadoptable” due to behavior and sadly even just their breed. We are a no-kill group that is aspiring to build Potter’s Angels Sanctuary and Rehabilitation Center thus providing a therapeutic residence of peace and tranquility as opposed to the typical “shelter” environment.
We also educate the public on the importance of responsible pet ownership, overpopulation awareness, spaying and neutering, and understanding dog behavior. We strongly advocate against breed discrimination and educate the public on the sad truth behind this mindless practice. Furthermore, we provide information and guidance on selecting the right dog for your home and helping people to find that fit through a rescue to put an end to irresponsible breeding practices. Our facility will also be a place of education where we can enlighten the public on such topics through regular seminars.
Our organization strongly believes that all animals are the angels that walk among us and should be treated with respect and dignity. The ultimate goal of this organization is to have all people share this philosophy, creating a healthier and kinder community for humans and animals alike.
