Katie!!

Now in VT!!

Katie is in Vermont!

If you are looking for the best little dog in the world then you must mean Kaity! She is a special dog to us.

Our special Kaity has been through a lot in just a year she is an owner turn in but not because she is naughty--- she is sooo nice. What this sweet young shepherd mix needs is what all pups and young dogs need.

Someone who has TIME to spend with them!!!

Like many of the pups we see Kaity is a shy pup, timid and unsure of new things. She will never be a jump in your face pup but always a bit reserved. she is just a year and small in stature just 44 pounds, she is barely medium size!

What pups like this need are people who can take the time to spend with them slowly introducing them to new situations and ease them into new experiences so they build confidence and self esteem. New situations frighten her- and here she is now, in a new situation again.

Kaity needs someone who is committed to rescue and wants to help save her so she can get over the shyness and enjoy the life she has of being a dog. It will take time and patience but with consistency and confidence she will, like all the others before her rise to the occasion.

Dogs like her are smart. She knows commands she understands direction. All she needs now is to have someone whom she can t rust who will help her with this and stick it out with her

She isnt our first shy pup and she wont be our last.. Kaity is sweet, good with other dogs, loves to play, housebroken, crate trained.. You should know resue dogs if you are applying. Kaity should have a fenced in yard as she is very very fast and loves to run.

What she really needs is a chance.. are you someone who can give her that chance? Kaity thinks a forever home should be just that...forever.

Who We Are

Welcome to Golden Huggs Rescue!

We are a very small group of volunteers who have made it our mission to find loving suitable homes for (otherwise) displaced, abandoned, or stray golden retrievers, golden mixes and labrador retrievers.

The dogs have either been relinquished by their owners, found as strays, or abandoned at the shelter door. It is irrelevant to us how they have managed to find themselves at these kill shelters in these circumstances. It is only in their best interest that we try in earnest to get them out.

All of our volunteers have been involved in the rescue and placing of dogs for years. All of our volunteers have worked with reputable rescues in the past. We are committed to doing our part in decreasing the numbers of goldens, golden mixes and labs put down at southern shelters.

Golden Huggs has recieved its 501c3 non-profit status. We receive no funding at all. All of our expenses are paid out of pocket. We would gladly accept any and all donations and contributions.

Adopting a friend

We require a completed application and a home visit prior to adoption. Please visit www.goldenhuggs.org to complete our online application.
