Our Featured Pet...

Ellie!
Ellie is approximately 3-4 years old and weighs under 50 pounds. Found as a stray, and after having a litter of pups, Ellie is doing remarkably well settling into her foster home. She loves her bed and is extremely affectionate and well behaved. She is completely housebroken and with her tail wagging and her eyes glued to you, she comes when called.
In actuality, she spends more time on her back - seeking a belly rub - than she does on all fours. She would be a wonderful dog for any family but would also be a great match for a mature couple or a family with small children. Zero aggression issues, does not jump and is the kindest and most gentle young lady you could imagine. On leash, she does not pull and loves to go for walks. In her foster home, Ellie loves spending time with twin girls (age 9) and is always ready to give a kiss.
She gets along wonderfully with the other dog and cats in the home and plays appropriately. There are also horses and chickens at the property and even though a sprinting chicken can sometimes excite her, she remains respectful and will always respond when called. Ellie is in Addison County, and her foster dad would be happy to answer any questions that you might have.

Who We Are
Welcome to Golden Huggs Rescue!
We are a very small group of volunteers who have made it our mission to find loving suitable homes for (otherwise) displaced, abandoned, or stray golden retrievers, golden mixes and labrador retrievers.
The dogs have either been relinquished by their owners, found as strays, or abandoned at the shelter door. It is irrelevant to us how they have managed to find themselves at these kill shelters in these circumstances. It is only in their best interest that we try in earnest to get them out.
All of our volunteers have been involved in the rescue and placing of dogs for years. All of our volunteers have worked with reputable rescues in the past. We are committed to doing our part in decreasing the numbers of goldens, golden mixes and labs put down at southern shelters.
Golden Huggs has recieved its 501c3 non-profit status. We receive no funding at all. All of our expenses are paid out of pocket. We would gladly accept any and all donations and contributions.
