Our Featured Pet...

KITTENS Boys and Girls. Every color and coat length you can imagine. Late Spring, all Summer, and early Fall is the time that cats in Vermont have the majority of their kittens. Kittens from the RCHS are spayed/neutered, vaccinated against distemper, feline leukemia tested, and de-wormed prior to adoption. Call (483-6700) or visit (765 Stevens Road, Pittsford) the shelter Wednesday - Sunday 12:00 - 5:00 pm to learn which kittens are currently up for adoption.

Who We Are

THE RCHS IS DEDICATED TO ENSURING A HUMANE ENVIRONMENT FOR ANIMALS THROUGH CARE, KINDNESS, AND COMMUNITY EDUCATION. The Rutland County Humane Society is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of animal welfare through leadership, education, and action. Our various programs are focused to prevent pet overpopulation, animal abuse, and neglect. The RCHS receives no financial support from any national or local humane organization, nor do we receive any United Way funding. Our programs are supported solely by donations, memberships, and fund raising events.

Adopting a friend

DOG ADOPTIONS All dogs at the RCHS are screened by a veterinarian and temperament tested by RCHS staff prior to being “put up for adoption.” The adoption fee for a canine is: Puppies (0-12 months) $125 Adult Dogs (1-7 years) $100 Senior Dogs (8-12 years) $60 Senior Dogs (12+ years) Donation only This adoption fee includes: - A spay/neuter surgery - Distemper vaccine - Kennel Cough vaccine - Deworming/Defleaing - Collar, Leash, ID Tag, Microchip - Adult Animals also receive Rabies Vaccines - Free post-adoption physical with your veterinarian - A folder with valuable handouts on dog behavior - Behavioral counseling for the lifetime of your pet - Half-price RCHS obedience classes CAT ADOPTIONS All cats at the RCHS are screened by a veterinarian prior to being “put up for adoption.” The adoption fee for a feline is: Kittens (0-12 months) $90 (2 for $105) Adult Cats (1-7 years) $70 Senior Cats (8-12 years) $30 Senior Cats (12+ years) Donation only If you wish to adopt 2 cats aged 1 year old or older, the fee for the 2nd cat will be an additional $15. This adoption fee includes: - A spay/neuter surgery - Distemper vaccine - Deworming/Defleaing - Feline Leukemia test - ID Tag, Microchip & Pet carrier - Adult animals also receive Rabies Vaccines - Free post-adoption physical with your veterinarian - Behavioral counseling for the lifetime of your pet - A folder with valuable handouts on cat behavior
