Consider getting a rabbit! While rabbits are not for everyone, they are a wonderful alternative to a cat or a dog. Rabbits are gentle, intelligent, and loving companions who adapt well to a loving home environment, and are easily litter box trained. Rabbits require daily care and should not be considered low-maintenance pets. They are not recommended for young children since rabbits are ground loving creatures who do not like to be held, and who are easily stressed by a child's high energy level and high pitched voice. Bunny Lu Adoptions, Inc., provides information about rabbits and their care. To determine if a rabbit is the right companion for you, or to locate a companion for your current bunny, please contact Mary Ellen.
Who We Are
Bunny Lu Adoptions is a 501(c)3, not-for-profit domestic rabbit rescue organization located in Northern Virginia. We are dedicated to improving the life of rabbits through community education, as well as through rescue and foster care activities. Bunny Lu is concerned with the welfare of all rabbits and will do everything it can to provide assistance and support to anyone having a rabbit. Foster space is limited, and at times, there is a waiting list. All rabbits helped by Bunny Lu are provided with proper veterinary care including a spay/neuter procedure by a rabbit experienced vet, and proper diet, socialization and litterbox training. Our rabbits must be kept in the house where they can participate in family activities. Bunny Lu Adoptions, Inc., is supported by public donations only, and do not receive any federal, state or local funding. We do not ship our rabbits for their own safety and well being.
Rabbits are very social creatures and do not like to be "only" pets. While they prefer the companionship of another rabbit, they will settle for a guinea pig, or a well-mannered dog or cat companion. Adoption rabbits that are already bonded will not be separated and must be adopted as a pair.
Bunnysitting!
We provide worry-free bunny sitting services to bunny slaves afraid to go on vacation and leave their bun behind. With over 20 years rabbit experience between us, your bun is in great hands. Please contact Mary Ellen for more information.
