Adoption Policy

Complete our Adoption Application .

GRI will do a veterinary reference check and if a potential adopter does not have a vet reference, we may require a home visit prior to finalizing an adoption.

Kittens, and many adult cats, need feline companionship just like humans. We recommend that kittens be adopted in pairs unless you already have a compatible cat in your home. In addition, some adult cats need feline companionship, regardless of age. Again, we recommend that these cats be adopted in pairs or into a home with a compatible cat. We are happy to identify which of our cats will be happy as single cats and those that need feline companionship.

Garfield’s Rescue, Inc. prides itself on taking in not just easy-to-adopt cute kittens, but senior cats and cats with special needs. GRI has a soft spot for seniors and special needs cats and we have a long history of success in finding new homes for these felines. There are many benefits to adopting a senior kitty or one with special needs.

The adoption fee goes toward GRI’s veterinary expenses. All of the cats in GRI’s care have had the following treatments.

· Spay (female) or neuter (male)
· Tested for feline leukemia (FeLV) and feline AIDS (FIV)
· FVRCP (upper respiratory/distemper) vaccine
· Rabies vaccine
Microchipped
· Treatments for intestinal parasites
· Treated for fleas
· Checked and treated for ear mites, if necessary
· Veterinary wellness exam
