Who We Are
Pet Harbor is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, nonstock, tax-exempt Virginia Siberian Husky and cat rescue organization. Operated by tax-deductible donation and volunteers, we foster the animals in homes.

The application process (See our "How to Adopt" page for more detail.) is as follows, though it may not necessarily be in this order.
· Complete an application.
· Get approved, a process that may include an interview, landlord/vet/reference/home checks, and sometimes other components. We reserve the right to do home inspections.
· Choose a pet or pets you would like to meet or call us to discuss matching your needs and situation with the appropriate pet.
· Meet the pet(s). That means your whole family, including your current pets. Choose a pet or pets you would like to meet or call us to discuss matching your needs and situation with the appropriate pet or come to an adoption event. See our calendar.
· Enter into a contract.
· Make a tax-deductible donation that can be any amount you want over a certain minimum. See the process page for the minimum requirements. Dogs are heartworm-negative, up-to-date on vaccines and heartworm preventative, spayed/neutered, and treated for any known medical conditions. Cats are leukemia and AIDS-negative, up-to-date on vaccines, spayed/neutered, and treated for any known medical conditions.
· Wait, if medically required.
· Welcome your new family member. Give him/her lots of love and a permanent home.
· Stay in touch! Become important permanent Pet Harbor family members.

Our animals are in foster homes. We do not operate a shelter. We are all volunteers. So have a bit of patience If you have an approved application with us, call (703) 583-HSKY to set up an appointment to visit a pet.
