Luke is our featured pet this week. Luke is a male lab mix 5 year old dog. He was found in Stuarts Draft. He is housebroken and gets along well with female dogs. His favorite activity is to fetch. Luke does not like cats and unfortunately he lives on a cat rescue farm. He lives 90% of his life in an extra-large cage in the house with one end covered so he can't see the cats and he barks like crazy if he see a cat. He has his own fenced yard, but he hates being alone. He is high energy outside and must have a fence because of cats. Luke was adopted once by a lonely teen boy and his mom for 2 weeks until the landlord found out and was not allowed to keep him. He adjusted well after a few days. He followed the boy and his mom from room to room. He just wanted to be where they were. He had no accidents and did not chew on anything but his toys. He would be best with a single person who is home a lot and doesn't have a lot of people coming and going. Luke sits, speaks, lays down and can count up to 3. His is very smart and learns quickly. He is accustomed to living in his cage but we do not feel it is much of a life for any dog. If you would like to improve Luke's life and have a good situation that you think would work for him, please contact Donna at: 540-290-0669 or email Lisa at : magnolia_blossom01@yahoo.com.
News
We have had many people call about several of our cats up for adoption. This is very exciting news for us and we hope that people will continue to visit us on Petfinder. We will have new cats for adoption added every week. Also, the cats on Petfinder are not all HOPE cats, but we do offer this service to individuals needing help finding homes for their animals. We are not a shelter and our volunteers foster out of their own homes. If interested in fostering or adopting, please contact Lisa at: magnolia_blossom01@yahoo.com
Who We Are
Humanitarians of Pet Education is a nonprofit animal help group that became incorporated in January of 1988. Our mission is to provide spaying/neutering assistance, to educate, to network to find homes for orphans and strays and to help with veterinary services as funds permit. Hope has financed over 900 spays and neuters since 1998, and relocated and placed kittens, cats, ferals and dogs. Hope has provided financial assistance to dozens of animal emergencies.
