The King George Animal Rescue League is a non-profit, 501(c)(3), all volunteer, organization providing food, shelter, medical care, and TLC to homeless and abused companion animals in our community and surrounding communities. We rely heavily on the enormous efforts of volunteers to raise operating funds necessary for our focus on spaying and neutering. We also accept private donations and receive grant aid to further our efforts to reduce pet overpopulation.
In recent years, KGARL has focused on finding homes and rescue groups for the animals at the King George Animal Control (KGAC) county pound. The pound is funded and operated by the county and is not associated with KGARL, but our volunteers have been able to make a HUGE difference in the euthanasia rates!! Back in 2006, a staggering 80% of the cats and 41% of the dogs were euthanized at the pound, as compared to 2.3% of the cats, and 1.2% of the dogs in 2011!!
