Buddy’s Burrow is working on becoming a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation!
Buddy’s Burrow is developing a library. We are looking for books and videos to loan to clients and volunteers. Please help us collect resources that might be useful for education and training.
If you have large empty storage bins to spare, we could certainly use them to keep uninvited critters out of our food donations!
Check your cabinets! If you have extra flea preventive (for example, Frontline Plus), de-worming medication, and heartworm preventive, feel
free to share with pets in our foster care program who are likely to have suffered a life without medications such as these.
Buddy’s Burrow loves gift certificates!
Unused or partially used gift certificates make excellent donations!
Of course we have the typical wish list: pet crates S-XL; cat carriers; dry cat and dog food; hooded litter boxes; cat litter (preferably newspaper or wheat-based); pet beds, blankets & towels; steel bowls for food & water; dog houses & pens/fencing. You can also pay for, or donate toward spay/neuter service ($35-$50) and pay for or donate toward veterinary care and vaccinations.
Buddy’s Burrow thanks the Women’s Resource Center of the NRV and the Pulaski County Humane Society for their continued support and generosity.
Who We Are

However, we also offer adoption services if an individual or family affected by domestic violence becomes unable to continue care of their pet(s) due to their particualr circumstances. In these situations, Buddy's Burrow provides foster care until a permanent loving home is found. We are continuously searching for foster homes for pets in need of temporary care. 3 Approximately 1 in 4 victims reports a delay in leaving a dangerous situation due to concerns for a pet;
4 Children sometimes abuse animals to gain control and understanding of the witnessed or experienced violence.
(DogFancy, April 2003 & Humane Society of the US, 2003)
Philosophy:
Individuals who are served by such a program have the right to take the time they need for healing, and to have peace in knowing that their pets are safe and that they will be reunited with their pets;
A pet is essential to continued healing of individuals or families once they are reunited;
These special animals deserve special treatment, received through loving foster care.
Mission:
Provide a place of refuge for pets affected by domestic violence;
Provide peace of mind to individuals in knowing that their pets are safe and cared-for;
Provide pet education to pet owners as needed;
Provide veterinary care and vaccinations;
Implement quality adoption services in cases where individuals affected by domestic violence become unable to care for their pets;
Advocate for people and pets affected by domestic violence;
Raise awareness of the effects and impact of domestic violence on our community.

families living in a cycle of violence.
Adopting a friend
In order to adopt a pet from Buddy's Burrow, first complete an adoption application, which may be requested by email, and then receive a home visit from a Buddy's Burrow representative.
When adopting a pet that has been affected by domestic violence, it is important to consider that the pet may be fearful and exhibit behaviors that seem unfamiliar to you. As a new or potential pet parent of any animal, the best way to help your pet is to educate yourself as much as possible. If your pet seems fearful, there is help.
