The RCACP posts pictures of lost or strayed animals on their website - www.rcacp.org - to make it possible to search for a lost pet online. The website also contains a Lost & Found List that allows someone who has lost a pet, or someone who has found a pet, to post information on the animal to help reunite the pet with his/her family.
Who We Are
The Regional Center for Animal Control & Protection is an open intake facility accepting stray and lost animals from animal control officers and the public, as well as owner relinquished pets, from the City and County of Roanoke, The County of Botetourt and The Town of Vinton.
Adopting a friend
Once an animal has passed his/her required holding time at the facility to allow the owner to reclaim him/her, the RCACP works with the Roanoke Valley SPCA, rescue groups and other shelters to place available animals in suitable homes. Animals who are housed at the RCACP that are posted on Petfinder have been deemed available and can be seen by visiting the center Monday - Friday between 11:30 - 5:30 pm and Saturday 11:30 - 4:00 pm. Once an adoption request is placed, an appointment will be made to complete the adoption through the RVSPCA. Each will be spayed/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped before being adopted. To place an adoption or rescue request, or for more complete information, please email us at tdeaton@rcacp.org or call 540-344-4922. Be sure to give us the animal's ID number to assure your name is on the right pet.
