Are you willing to open up your home and heart to a Lab in need?
We are in desperate need of foster homes. We supply the medical care and ask that you supply the food and the love and a safe environment. It's not good for any dogs to sit in kennels so we only use foster homes and we are limited! PLEASE consider fostering, it's a wonderful feeling to help a dog in need and see him/her go to his/her new home. Please consider making a tax deductible donation to assist us with the neccessary medical treatment that our dogs need. www.labrescue-richmond.org
Who We Are
Lab Rescue of Greater Richmond is a non-profit (501(c)(3) ), all volunteer organization serving Richmond, Virginia and nearby counties. We rescue homeless Labrador retrievers from local animal shelters and provide them with foster homes and veterinary care which includes updating vaccines if needed, testing for heartworm (and treating if necessary) as well as intestinal worms and spaying/neutering if not already done, until they can be adopted into new, loving homes. We formed our group in February 2006 because we saw the need for a local Lab Rescue group. We bring new Labs into our program on a regular basis as space allows. Typically, we will have about 5-10 Labs available for adoption. The main reason for the small number is that we house each one of our Labs in a foster home, instead of in a kennel. (We ONLY board dogs in extreme circumstances.) We feel this is the best way to get to know the Labs we rescue and make the best placement possible. If You Need To Give Up Your Lab.....

Adopting a friend
If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs, please complete and submit an application available via www.labrescue-richmond.org. Once you submit your application, you will hear from one of our volunteer Adoption Coordinators. WE DO NOT DISCUSS DETAILS OF OUR DOGS UNTIL YOU ARE APPROVED BY AN ADOPTION COORDINATOR. We appreciate your interest and recommend checking out our website for detailed information on our adoption process. Our dogs may be met at our Meet and Greet Days but we prefer that they get adopted from their foster homes as we feel this is a better transition and cuts down on any *impulse* adoptions.
