Emporia Greensville Humane Society, Inc. formed in May of 2004.
Our purpose is, "Standing up for all God's Animals." Our organization has rescued over 450 animals since our existance. We operate completley out of foster homes until we raise enough money to build our own building. The adoption fees include spay and neuter of the animal along with the health care we have provided for them. All our animals eat only Science Diet, while they are with us. We give them all the love, medical attention and care they need while in our care. Adoption fees is how Humane Societies are able to remain in existance. Please note we do not negotiate these fees because with all the medical care we provide we operate on such a tight budget. Our adoption fees for cats and kittens are $100.00 and puppies and dogs are $115.00. There is a $75.00 additional fee for any and all adoptions that are located more than 60 miles from the EGHS office.Our adoption process is very strict. We have a contract that our adoptive parents must agree to for the life of the animal. Adopting a pet is a lifetime commitment and we want all our prospective parents to believe the same.
Our pets are just that, our pets. We are sad when we adopt them out as we all have become very attached to them, but we know they are going to the best home after their application is accepted. We do home inspections of our adoptive pets. All our animals are required to be spayed and neutered and this is to help reduce the pet population for the many un-wanted animals.
We have been on petfinder.com since December 2004 and 95% of our adoptions come from petfinder.com. Petfinder.com brings the attention to animals from all over the country. We have been most impressed by most of the contacts made to us through this website. We have adopted as far north as Connecticut and as far south as North Carolina because of petfinder.com.
We are a non-profit organization. We are 501c3 certified and appreciate all donations to our organization, as they can be used as taxable donations.
Our building fund is our current need. We need the funds to place the animals in a facility for our visiters to view and to care for them properly from the weather until they are adopted. We are currently selling bricks and other items if you wish to be a part of history.
