Lee Animal League

"Helping Hands For Loving Paws"

Lee Animal League has now assisted in getting over 1000 dogs and cats spayed and neutered!! Let's keep up the great work Lee County and continue taking bold steps to controlling our overwhelming pet population!! We will offer an Additional Savings of $5.00 off on each pet for the summer. The transports occur on the first and third Mondays of each month. If a holiday occurs in that week, there will not be a transport. All times at 6:30 a.m. The pickup place is the Park and Ride across from the Happy Mart in Jonesville.! When calling to put your pet on our list, please be prepared to answer the following: name, phone number, breed, gender, and weight of the dog. Doesn't matter on weight for a cat but we still need to know the gender. Please provide a crate or carrier for your pet ( please no wire cages). it is important that you place newspaper or some type of absorbant material inside the cage as well. Your pet will stay overnight in the clinic and be brought back the following day at noon. Make an appointment with the Lee Animal League at 346-2501,546-6419, or 546-5057. Don't delay, the list fills up quickly. We are a 501C Organization and donations are tax deductible. We need your help and support to continue our work. We accept donations through PayPal.You can pay by all major credit cards or an echeck with PayPal. Click the donation button below to donate.

We also take aluminum can donations to help aid the organization Holly Help. Holly Help helps cover the cost of spay/neuter assistance. To make a can donation, please bring them the following day when the spay/neuter transport brings the pets back for the owners to pick up. (always around noon the next day at the park and ride across from Happy Mart in Jonesville) Holly Help is vital for aiding in the fight to reduce the pet population by spay and neuter programs. We urge everyone to help support this organization.

OUR WISH LIST

If you wish to make a donation to our league, we are a 501C organization. It is tax deductible. Our mail address is; Lee Animal League 323 East Morgan Ave Pennington Gap, Va 24277. We have rescued over 500 dogs in our three years of existence. We desperately need pet carriers, kennels/pens, cages, dog food, doghouses, and etc. If you have any to donate to us, it
would be greatly appreciated. Please contact us for a mutual drop off or pick up site.

Please note that this website is done by volunteer ONLY. Some of the animals listed are animals that are at the Lee County Dog Pound. It is a high-kill pound and we go in and take pictures to try to give the ones we cannot pull out a chance. Other animals that are listed are in the foster care of Lee Animal League. We take in the animals that we can and do our best to find them homes. The adoption fee that we require is used to cover the care and expenses of the animals we save. It is a very hard job and we do all that we can do.

Lee Animal League takes in as many homeless animals as we can and places them in volunteer foster homes until a permanent home can be found. Without foster homes, we cannot save dogs and cats who deserve a second chance at life. Until we can end the pet overpopulation problem, foster homes will serve the most important function in saving these abandoned pets and ending euthanasia. If you would like to help foster, PLEASE CONTACT US! We NEED your help!

Do not be misled and think that if you take your pet to a shelter that it has a good chance of being adopted....IT DOESN'T! Very few make it out. When owners give up their pets, they are the first to be put down. The pet population is out of control in the United States and Lee County is just an example. Spay/Neuter your pets! It is the only answer! If cost is a problem, WE CAN HELP YOU! We work with a clinic to help provide low cost spay/neuter....it is available to ANYONE! Don't aid in the already overwhelming pet population, take a stand, set an example, take responsibility. Click on the "contact us" button on this page and call one of our members and we can work something out for you.

The Lee Animal League works in conjunction with the Margaret B. Mitchell Spay/Neuter Clinic located in Bristol, VA. They already provide spays and neuters at a low-cost fee, but when people make appointments through us the cost is even less! The clinic comes to Dot, VA and meets pet owners to pick up the dogs or cats and will take them and even bring them back the following day. It is an excellent clinic and the people there do wonderful work with the pets and truly love making a difference. This is for anyone who decides to go through us. The clinic will also provide any vaccinations that are needed....even though a rabies shot is mandatory through Virginia State Law before spaying or neutering can be done. Pictured above with the van is Linda. Many thanks to the Margaret B. Mitchell clinic for helping us bring awareness to this area and for doing such excellent work and care for all our pets.
