The Rappahannock Humane Society ("RHS") rescues animals that have been abused and /or traumatized. We are a small group of volunteers who also work with feral colonies. In order to comply with State law, we provide assistance withTNR (Trap, Neuter, and Return) when there exists an owner/caretaker of a colony of feral cats. However, we do NOT endorse the release of ferals to their colonies the morning after surgery. We recoup our sterilized ferals for several days as we have experienced ferals with hernias, mastitis, abcesses, or other injuries. We have 9 years of experience with ferals. Adoptions of domestic rescues include a homesite, a contract, vet references, a non-negotiable no-declaw policy; and, we have a return policy as part of our adoption contract to ensure that no animal will be placed in a shelter. Further, our animals are completely vetted. EVERY FELINE WE ASSIST IS TESTED. We can provide a REFERENCE from our animal hospital upon request. Canine rescues must be placed in homes with fencing. We invite you to visit our list of animals ready for adoption. REFERENCES from our growing family are eagerly provided. Thank you for reading about our volunteer work.
RHS was incorporated on June 27th, 1997 and is a registered 501(c)(3) organization. We are completely volunteer with absolutely no payroll expenses.
