Pets of the Month

Our pets of the month introduce themselves ...
Many of the pets listed on our site have been rescued from the local animal control facility which has a very low adoption rate. Volunteers rescue and provide foster care until a permanent loving home is found. By adopting one of these wonderful animals, you will make room for another animal to be rescued.

Planned Pethood Low Cost Spay Neuter Clinic

Our Planned Pethood Low Cost Spay Neuter Clinic is located at 18401 Virgil Goode Highway ( Highway 220) just north of Rocky Mount, VA. Please call us at 540-489-3491 to schedule an appointment.

Our mission is to stop the needless destruction of healthy dogs and cats by reducing pet overpopulation. We have performed over 27,500 spay/neuter surgeries since opening our doors in July 2000.

Each spay/neuter will prevent the births of 4 or more animals over the next few years reducing the number of pets that end up in animal shelters or dumped along roadsides. We are a non-profit organization and we rely on the donations and fundraising to help underwrite the cost of the surgeries.

Prices:.
Male Cat Neuter: $40
Female Cat Spay: $40
Male Dog Neuter: $50
Female Dog Spay:$50
Other services including shots, microchipping, flea/tick treatment and deworming also available while here for spay/neuter.

Franklin County Humane Society No Kill Adoption Center to Open In October 2008

The Franklin County Humane Society announces completion of the HOME AT LAST Capital Campaign for its soon to be built Adoption Center. Through private donations, the Humane Society raised $750,000 for the No Kill Adoption Center that will provide a long needed location to house homeless pets in the Franklin County area. The Adoption Center is scheduled to open in October 2008.

Building the Adoption Center is a key component of our mission to become a community where all adoptable animals find a loving home. The Adoption Center has been designed not only to provide safe and comfortable housing for the animals but also to be a pleasant and happy place for people who come to adopt a pet or to volunteer. We want the Humane Society’s No Kill Adoption Center to be the first place people think about when they are looking for a pet.

Naming opportunities are still available. Put your name on a Puppy Play Pen or a Kitty Condo and help homeless pets in our area.
