We are a county operated ANIMAL CONTROL / POUND facility, Proudly serving KING GEORGE, VA. We strive to provide professional, efficient service to everyone, while operating under realistic conditions, under the laws of Virginia. We continue to work with individuals and organizations that are truly interested in unwanted, adoptable, animals. We appreciate the tremendous support and cooperation received from the citizens of King George County.

ADOPTING AN ANIMAL

PITBULLS OR ANY PITBULL CROSSBREEDS WILL ONLY BE ADOPTED TO KING GEORGE COUNTY RESIDENTS. All adopted animals must be spayed or neutered. Unsterilized animals may only be adopted by residents within King George, Westmoreland, Essex, Caroline, Spotsy., or Stafford Counties, and the city of Fredericksburg. Animals previously sterilized may be adopted by anyone. Residents of King George have first option on available animals, over other individuals & organizations. Other eligible adopters may adopt available animals on a first come, first serve basis. Animals may be transfered to other Agencies & Certified Companion Animal Rescue Groups per state law. INCLUDE YOUR 501C CERTIFICATION & ONLY MAIL/FAX THE REQUIRED INFO THAT WE NEED TO APPROVE YOUR AGENCY. THERE WILL BE NO FEE FOR ANIMALS THAT ARE TRANSFERED ON THE SAME DAY THAT THEY ARE AVAILABLE, BUT THERE WILL BE A $10.00 FEE FOR EACH ANIMAL TRANSFERED AFTER ITS AVAILABLE DATE.

We are experiencing more companion animal complaints (due to residential increases) along with more wildlife complaints (due to loss of habitat). This means we are busy, and have many animals going through our small facility, so the amount of time that we can hold adoptable animals is limited. If you are interested in an animal please contact us BEFORE it is euthanized! A $50.00 CASH deposit is required on all adoptions of unsterilized animals. A $50.00 check will be refunded to you upon presentation of written proof of Sterilization, Rabies Vaccination, and Licensing(If Required) on or before the mandatory sterilization date.

We are located in Beautiful, Historic KING GEORGE County, in the Tidewater/Northern Neck Region of Virginia. Visit us at 11220 Henry Griffin Rd. King George, VA. 22485-From Fredericksburg: Rt.3 east (approx. 20 miles) to Rt.205, go .5 mile, turn rt. onto Rt. 704 (Henry Griffin Rd.) take left gate into Landfill, pass dumpsters, (follow sign), take rt. onto gravel road. -From Port Royal: Rt.301north(approx. 5 miles) to Rt.3 west go 1 mile, turn rt. onto Rt.205 (then same as from Fred.)-From Dahlgren: Rt.301south (approx. 8 miles), to Rt.3 west (then same as from port Royal) See map below.

Open Tue,Wed, Thu, 10am to 3pm and Mon, Fri, Sat 10am to 1 pm Closed Sun, and Holidays. No adoptions, Surrenders, or delivery of stray or trapped animals after hours. We DO NOT accept strays or surrenders from residents of other counties!
