WHO WE ARE
We are a county run animal shelter, our purpose is to take in the
stray and unwanted animals of Shenandoah County. In 2008 we
took in over seventeen hundred animals.
WE NEED YOUR HELP
We are always in need of donated items. Currently we need kitten
food. A few items we always need are dog/cat treats, dog/cat toys,
cat litter, litter scoops, newspaper, blankets, towels, bleach, dish
soap, laundry detergent, fabric softener, dog/cat collars, hand
sanitizer, disposable gloves, and animal crates. We ask that any
donated item be in good condition.
ADOPTING A PET
Dogs have a$15 adoption fee and a $35 spay/neuter deposit.
Cats have a $10 adoption fee and a $25 spay/neuter deposit.
If the animal is already spay/neutered only the adoption fee applies.
If you to not live or own property in Shenandoh County or in a county
touching us (Frederick, Warren, Page, and Rockingham Counties) the
animal must be altered before leaving the shelter. We work closely with
the local vets and can usually make a spay/neuter appointment quickly.
We provide transportation to the vets office. It is the potential adoptor's
responsibility to come to the shelter, complete the adoption, pick up
the animal from the vet's office and pay the vet bill. Please remember
most vets prefer not to do surgery on animals under 4 moths of age.
OUR HOURS
We are open Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Saturdays
10:00 a.m. to 2 p.m. We are closed on Sundays and all Holidays.

Rt.81south to Woodstock exit #283. Make a left off the exit ramp onto Rt. 42.
At the Sheetz turn right onto Rt 11. Go south for 2 1/2 miles. Turn right onto
Landfill Rd. Make the first right after you cross the railroad tracks.
From the South
Rt.81north to Edinburg exit #279. Make a right off the exit ramp. At the end
of the road make a left onto Rt. 11 north. Turn left onto Landfill Rd. Make the
first right after you cross the railroad tracks.
