Northern Virginia Animal League (NVAL) is an all volunteer, not for profit, 501- c (3) cat rescue organization. NVAL does not have a shelter, therefore we do NOT take give- ups. The cats in our care are housed in various foster homes in and around the Manassas area.
NVAL rescues abandoned and stray cats. If the rescues can be socialized, they are placed for adoption. Cats that are not socialized are spayed or neutered, then offered as barn cats or returned to their colonies. All cats remain in our care until they are placed. We do not euthanize unless deemed medically necessary.
NVAL is looking for permanent (15 - 20 years) homes for the cats and kittens we place. Adopters must agree to provide regular veterinary care, love and a safe environment. Most cats weighing over 2 lbs. are spayed/neutered before placement, regardless of age.
We enforce a strict spay/neuter policy on kittens placed unaltered.
Our cats and kittens are shown each Saturday at the Manassas PETsMART from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. During "kitten season" we are also usually at PETsMART on Sundays between 1:00 and 4:00 p.m. The adoption process takes approximately 30 minutes. If you are interested in adopting a cat or kitten please stop by and visit. We require an approved application and a contract signed before each adoption. If you rent, please bring your lease as proof pets are permitted in your residence. Please email Sue (s.leferson@verizon.net) to receive an application via email.
Donations: NVAL is grateful for all monetary and product donations. Donations are tax deductible to the full extent of the law. Food donations are used to maintain the various cat colonies in the Manassas area. Funds support everything from litter and food to spays and neuters. Any easy way to donate to the support of these kitties is to click on any pet on our site and then choose "Sponsor Me." or "Make a Donation." You may also drop your donations at the Manassas PETsMART any Saturday between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m or mail to NVAL, 7552 Hyde Court, Manassas, VA 20109-3334. THANK YOU!
Volunteers Needed: NVAL is looking for volunteers to assist with adoptions on Saturdays and Sundays. You must be at least 18 years old and have a passion for wanting to help these precious creatures.
We are also looking for foster homes. Foster families must own their own home and live in the Manassas area. Families must also be available to deliver and pick up their foster kitties from adoptions each weekend. For an application please email Sue at s.leferson@verizon.net. A home inspection may be required.
