 www.CatRescueInc.org
Founded in 1997, Cat Rescue, Inc. has been finding great home for some great cats. In Hampton Roads, tens of thousands of companion animals are euthanized in animal shelters each year and we think there has to be a better way. That's why we exist.
Cat Rescue, Inc. tests all cats and kittens for FELV/FIV. Most receive their first distemper shots and if they are at least 16 weeks old they receive their rabies vaccination. All cats are de-wormed and treated for fleas. If required, they are also treated for ear mites and other medical conditions. Cats over 6 months are spayed/neutered before they are adopted. If a potential home already has cats, then we ask that the existing cats meet same medical requirements.
Cat Rescue was among the first home-based animal welfare groups in Hampton Roads to offer microchips for the cats that we adopt in order to help animal shelters return your cat to you if it is ever lost.
Adopting a CRI Cat
We think our cats are the best, but encourage anyone thinking of welcoming a new pet into their home to adopt from a shelter or rescue group such as ours. Commercial and "backyard" animal breeders are contributing to the animal overpopulation problem that has been estimated to cost the United States over one billion dollars each year to deal with. When you adopt, you save not only money but an animals life as well.

Who We Are Cat Rescue volunteers are your neighbors who see a need and try to do something about it. Each year, hundreds upon thousands of cats are lost, abandoned or born feral into our community and CRI Volunteers try to help them live a long, happy and healthy life.
We also help our community by directing pet owners to low-cost spay, neuter or other veterinary care for the pets that they own as well as providing cage space and help if the time comes to find a new home for thier feline friends. We also provide a means in which young offenders can serve their court-ordered community service obligations while they help the animals in our care.
We Need Volunteers!
If you have a few hours a week or per month and would like to help some great cats, we would love to talk to you! We need volunteers to help us care for the animals by transporting them to Vet appointments, adoption event workers or foster homes. IF you love cats and want to help, Cat REscue is the place you should be!
