What Is Pen Pals?

Pen Pals is a unique partnership between Save Our Shelters and the Virginia Department of Corrections, designed to lower the rate of euthanasia in Virginia's public pounds; provide job skills to inmates; promote the rehabilitation of inmates; provide well trained dogs and socialized cats for adoption; and help promote a correctional center environment of less tension while improving communication between the correctional center staff and inmates.
