Who We Are

The Lost Dog Rescue Foundation is a non-profit, volunteer-run organization located in Northern Virginia. Our mission is to match dogs and cats, that have lost their homes, with caring new owners that will make them a permanent member of their family. The Foundation is sponsored by the Lost Dog Cafe, located at 5876 North Washington Blvd. in Arlington, Virginia, which has provided support to homeless animals for over 15 years.

Adopting a friend

The Foundation assists prospective owners in choosing the dog or cat that is right for them. Because of our extensive experience with all breeds, we are able to explain the traits and personality of the pet being considered to determine if it is the right fit. The adoption process is also used as an opportunity to provide education on how owners can keep their pets safe, healthy, and happy through pet training, regular veterinary visits, and pet-safety home checks.
The adoption fees are as follows:

Kittens must be adopted out in pairs or go to a home with another feline companion.

All adoption fees go directly to LDCRF to help pay for medical expenses, spaying/neutering, and boarding.

How You Can Help


Donate a Bed
We use Patented Kuranda Dog Beds because they are durable, chew proof and easy to clean. If you would like to donate a bed to us, click here.

Remembrance Giving
Looking for a way to honor someone special for the holidays. Try our new Remembrance Giving Program. This program allows you to reach out to family and friends in a meaningful way while providing support for LDCRF's dogs and cats. You can choose a Memorial Gift or a Tribute. Read more for details of each.
Or maybe you would like to sponsor an animal through our Pal for Paws program. Please link to the Pal for Paws donation page from your chosen pet's profile. Click here to choose your pet.

Corporate Matching Gifts
Did you know that you can double the amount of your donation to LDCRF? Many employers are willing to match the charitable contributions of their employees (whether it be for an adoption, donating on line, Pal for Paws, Remembrance Giving, etc.). Matching gifts are usually matched dollar for dollar (often by just completing a simple company form). Please inquire at your employer's Human Resources or Personnel Department to determine if you have a Matching Gift Program.

Winter is almost Over!
       Time to start preparing for the spring!
We strive to keep our dogs and cats happy and comfortable, but often do not have funds for an extra treat. Can you donate toys (like kongs, sterilized bones, compressed rawhides, catnip filled toys, scratching posts, etc), comfort items (like blankets, towels and bath mats to put on top of their beds), treats (like milkbones, fishy cat treats, peanut butter to fill the kongs with, etc)? Or maybe you just are not sure what they most need or want. What about a Petsmart Gift Certificate? You may either drop your donation off at any of our adoption events or contact Giving@lostdogrescue.org and we can arrange a pick up.
