Who We Are
AlmostHome Dogz is an all breed pure breed rescue located in the DFW area of Texas. We are not a shelter and do not have a facility where the dogs are housed and can be seen. Our dogs are all fostered in private homes. Our rescue consists of a group of volunteeer foster homes that help heal these animals, both mentally and physically and prepare them for their forever home. All our dogs are fully vetted and spayed/neutered. We housetrain, when necessary, we feed, groom, vet, and love them like they were our own.
Adopting a friend
If you are looking to adopt a new friend/family member. Please e-mail us at: almosthome@gmail.com We will provide you with our adoption application. Once we receive an application, we will be happy to discuss any of our dogs with you.
How the process works:
-You see a dog online
-You send an inquiry for an application to almosthome@gmail.com
-Our volunteer emails an application to you, normally in the same day
-Our board reviews the application with the foster family to make sure it is a good fit for the dog and the prospective adoptive home
-An AlmostHome Dogz volunteer will then email or call you to set up a homevisit -this is required - we visit every home to ensure a safe environment
-We verify vet information and that any current pets are up to date on shots and kept on heartworm preventative
-Once all of this is complete we do the homevisit you get to meet the dog(s) that you are interested in that would fit your household
-When a decision is made and all parties agree the adoption paperwork will be filled out and a donation will be made to us inexchange for the new family member which is yours forever and ever
We strive to get back with everyone in a reasonable amount of time. Please be patient as we are all volunteers who have regular full time jobs and sometimes can only get to email in the evenings.
Why adopt from a rescue organization?
1. Our dogs in foster homes where they are getting evaluated for tempermant, health, training, housebreaking issues
2. Having dogs fostered in homes gives everyone a better chance of making a sucessful life long match
3. All of the pets we place have been altered and have been checked for heartworm and put on preventative, they have also received all shots and all identified health issues are resolved (dewormed, heartworm treatment, needed surgeries, etc) or disclosed, if untreatable (heart murmurs, etc)
