Our Featured Pet...

Eight Lives came to me when she was around 8 weeks old. She was rescued by a lady who saw her come flying out of a moving vehicle going down the road. She scooped her up, took her to a vet to get checked out but couldn't keep her. She called her Eight Lives and so the name stuck. She was a very feral kitten, thin and infested with fleas. I've had her since June of 2007 and it has taken her most of this time to calm down and trust. She has a cute little squeaky cry for attention. She desperately wants to come in my house and be my alpha cat. She does cause some conflict with some of the other cats, so it will be best for her to be the only cat at least for awhile. She does like to "hunt" and has brought me many "trophies".

News

I'm in the process of writing a book about my experiences with cat rescuing. I have some great stories and some miraculous stories to tell. I'm also very excited to provide information about cat care and rescuing in general.

Who We Are

My name is Joyce Fulton. I was born and raised in Texas. I've always loved animals. I've had all kinds of animals and have a true love for all of God's creatures. In the past, I've rescued dogs here and there and found homes for them. I've always had cats and I'm sorry to admit that I had a female that had more than a few litters. There would always be a few I couldn't part with and I would find homes for the rest. Saving cats has become my passion. When our daughter went to college in Arkansas, she began volunteering for a local humane society group in Arkadelphia. I went to visit her and we went to one of the foster homes to help with duties. When I saw this small room filled with kittens, I offered to put ads in the newspapers in my home area (Dallas-Fort Worth). That was spring of 1998. She would bring me loads of kittens and sometimes adults when she came home to visit. That was hundreds and hundreds of cats ago! I am a rescuer, not a breeder. The cats that I help are the lost, pregnant, sick, feral, orphaned and dumped. I have to bottle feed, medicate, spay and neuter, socialize and take care of litters to get them ready for adoption. I love all my cats and want the best possible homes for them. I've discovered that just as there are no two people that are alike, there are no two cats that are alike. My goal is to match the cat with the kind of homes that would work for both people and animals. I'm also dedicated to educating the public on the responsibility of cat ownership. I love cats and I'm determined to help as many as I possibly can. Since I do my own thing, my adoption fees and donations are my only source of funds. It would be nice to at least break even, but in all the years I’ve been doing this I'm always in the red. I am dedicated to the cats that I have rescued and consider it a worthwhile price.

Adopting a friend

As many as 10 million dogs, cats, puppies and kittens are euthanized in the United States every year. There are too many animals and not enough homes for them. Shelters and rescues are full especially in the summer months. Please consider adopting a new pet as opposed to supporting breeders. I’ve seen with my own two eyes the appreciation from these unwanted animals. They have unconditional love to give.
