About Huskies and Our EffortsOnce the Chuckchi Eskimos from Siberia depended on these dogs for their very survival. The Siberian Natives even trusted their huskies as babysitters for their children. In 1925, teams of Siberian Huskies saved the Alaskan town of Nome from the devastation of a diphtheria epidemic by bringing serum to the town through one of Alaska's worst snowstorms. But now, the survival of hundreds of the descendents of this noble breed is in doubt. They die in dog pounds, the victims of greed, puppy mills, unethical breeders and ignorant owners. Adopt A Husky of Dallas is a non-profit organization dedicated to saving these lost Siberians from their doom, to the education of owners in how to care for them and for the promotion to the general public the gentle and affectionate nature of the breed. We are always in need of foster homes, volunteers, donations and owners for the dogs that we save. Please visit our website at www.adoptahusky.org for more about us and to see more of the dogs we have available for adoption. |
