Adopting a friend
OUR HOURS OF OPERATION ARE:
MONDAY - FRIDAY 12:oo PM TO 6:00 PM AND SATURDAY - SUNDAY 10:00 TO 12:00 FOR ADOPTIONS AND RECLAIMS. ALL MAJOR HOLIDAYS WE ARE CLOSED.
WE CANNOT HOLD ANY ADOPTABLE PET FOR ANY PERSON
The fee to adopt is $10.00, with a current drivers license or state I.D. The adopter must sign a contract to have the animal vaccinated against rabies within 3 days (at 12 weeks of age for puppies and kittens) and neutered within 30 days (by six months for females and eight months for male puppies and kittens). Written certification of these procedures, from a licensed veternarian, is required to fulfil the adoption contract.
MOST LOCAL VETERNARIANS HAVE DISCOUNTED PROGRAMS FOR POUND PUPPIES AND KITTIES.
There is a three day grace period, meaning if for any reason you no longer can keep the animal that you have adopted from us, we will take that animal back, minus any refund. But, the City of Harker Heights Animal Control does not warrant or guarantee the health, nature, dispositon, of the animals. We can only give information based on observations made while the animals are at the shelter. It is imperative that you take any pet adopted from the shelter to see your personal veterinarian as soon as possible for any adoption. They need a general health check, and updates on all necessary vaccinations.

WE ARE LOCATED AT 120 S. HARLEY IN HARKER HEIGHTS DIRECTLY BEHIND THE POLICE DEPARTMENT. THE EASIEST WAY TO GET TO OUR SHELTER IS BY TRAVELING DOWN VETERAN MEMORIAL BLVD OR FM 2410. PLEASE CALL US, WE WILL BE HAPPY TO GIVE YOU DIRECTIONS.
Harker Heights Animal Control gladly accepts donations! We happily accept any of the following useful items: flea products, treats for dogs and cats, rawhide chew bones, washable toys for cats and dogs, collars and leashes (new or used), and empty soda cans (which is used to buy all of the above). WE DESPERATLY NEED A DOGGIE CLIPPERS WITH A SIZE 10 BLADE, we have had a large amount of matted, shaggy dogs, that are in dire need of being shaved because of the condition of the fur and neglected state.
