Who We Are

The City of Denton Animal Shelter is a temporary home to lost, unwanted and stray animals. Part of the Denton Police Department, the Animal Services Unit has full time officers who help citizens care for their pets in many ways.

Animals of all sorts spend time with us, from newborn kittens to potbelly pigs. We receive animals from unincorporated Denton County and many of the surrounding municipalities. Our goal is to ensure humane care while the animals are in our custody, enable adoptions to individuals and facilitate transfers to rescue organizations, and humanely euthanize animals as necessary.
