Who are we?
CLAW is
a nonprofit organization powered by volunteers who are dedicated
to finding loving and safe homes for homeless and abandoned domestic animals.
We are classified by the IRS as a not-for-profit, tax exempt 501(c)(3)organization
CLAW's mission is multi-faceted. First and foremost, it is to help domesticated animals find secure homes.
Additionally, CLAW works to educate the public on the importance of spaying/neutering,
responsible pet ownership and the humane treatment of animals.
CLAW efforts are also focused on reducing the use of euthanasia in Van Zandt County
and to provide the public with information on how to report animal abuse.
Volunteers make it happen
CLAW volunteers share a love and
compassion for animals and
a desire to improve animals' lives in Van Zandt County.
Our rescued animals are fostered in volunteers' homes until that time that a forever home is found.
While in fostering, CLAW animals receive the necessary veterinary services to get them
up to date on vaccinations, worming, spay/neuter, Heartworm testing and on Heartworm preventative.
There are untold advantages of fostering, but most importantly, fostering allows the animal to be in a loving,
nurturing environment that is safe and designed to ensure their continued healthy lifestyle.
Additionally, fostering allows our volunteers to work with the animals on their road
to becoming a good citizen for their future families.
To become a volunteer you should be interested in fulfilling the mission of the organization in Van Zandt County.
There is no fee to become a volunteer with
CLAW. Any and all members of the public are welcome to attend
volunteer meetings
and participate in adoption clinic events and fundraising events.
Please join us at our next meeting. See calendar below.
CLAW does not
accept owner animal surrenders or pick up stray animals.
Members of the public are encouraged to surrender stray animals to nearby
city
animal shelters in Canton, Grand Saline, or Van. By taking the stray or abandoned
animal to an animal shelter,
you ensure the animal will not suffer from lack of
food or neglect.
In addition, you protect the animal from uncaring members of
the community who seek to harm the animal.
CLAW visits the Canton Animal Shelter
and Grand Saline Animal Shelter
often to evaluate animals as to their physical
and mental health.
If the animal qualifies for the CLAW foster program, it is
removed from the animal shelter
and placed in a foster home until it can be
adopted to a permanent home.
Cost of Adoption?
The
adoption donation is $100 for a puppy or dog and $75 for a kitten or cat.
This donation is tax deductible. Funds raised from adoption donations are primarily
dedicated to
the veterinary care of our rescued animals.
