8/25/07 We have MOVED!!!! We have relocated to a wonderful property in Southeast Missouri, however we do still have adopters in Texas and all over the USA, so please don't let our state deter you from the perfect dog for your family. We have also changed our name and focus, we are now Northern Lights Molosser Rescue and we will be primarily rescuing the rarer Molosser breeds. These are breeds that have been true guardians & "watchers" of their families for long before many of these "common" breeds were ever acknowledged or developed, and as such are not breeds that can be made to "conform" to our idea of what we want them to be. You cannot for instance take a Fila & turn it into a German Shepherd just because you want a short coated mastiff looking GSD. These breeds are to be revered for what they are, accepted as they are, and loved for what they are. That is what we are here to do. For just as the Northern Lights have long been mysterious, so too are these magnificent protectors of old.

Other Breeds...>
We will also space permitting take in the following breeds, when the Pure Bred Rescues of their type are full or incapable of taking them: - Collie - Australian Shepherd - German Shepherd - Akita - Great Dane - American Bulldog Please keep in mind these are only on case by case, space permitting. Also any of these breeds needing to come into the program MUST be of impeccable temperament, no aggression towards animals or people, and pass our Temperament test without any question.
Adopting a friend
Our adoption process includes several aspects both before and after the actual adoption.
Prior to the actual adoption we require the following:
** Adoption application filled out in full
**Home Visit
**Interview, preferably in person
Once approved to adopt we require the following:
**Adoption contract
**Completion of the AKC Canine Good Citizen certification test – We require an agreement signed stating that the dog will complete this test offered by the American Kennel Club by the date on the agreement. This test is for those dogs that are capable of passing it, many of our Molossers would not be able to do so, however it is required on all of our "other breeds", and our younger Molossers.
**We do adopt out of state/area, however all the above requirements must be met and we also require the following:
1) The adopters must travel to Viburnum, MO order to meet and return home with their new dog. We will be happy to pick you up at Saint Louis or Springfield, MO airports with advance notice. On rare occassions this can be avoided, but most of our dogs need to meet you before you attempt to handle them.
2) An agreement signed to the effect that if you cannot keep the dog for any reason, you are responsible for the costs of returning the dog to us in Missouri.
Adoption Fee
Our adoption fee is $300 and includes the following:
**Spay/Neuter
**All age appropriate vaccinations
**Any veterinary care or medicines the dog might have required since rescued
**Microchip – With lifetime registration in the 24/7 recovery program.
**Obedience training
