Boot is the perfect large dog for your family. We are torn as to her breed mix, but we have had her since she was about 4 mos. old and know what a good dog she is. Very good with the other dogs, large and small. Loves to fetch.
Who We Are
Our Humane Society is an all volunteer organization that emphasizes discounted spay/neuter for the pets of low income families. We serve both Coleman and Runnels Counties.
We have a foster program for our rescued dogs. We are a rural area that has many, many stray and dumped animals. We do not have a shelter of our own, but try very hard to either rescue and foster adoptable animals that end up at our kill shelters. Our animal control officers work with us to give us precious time to find homes for the most adoptable dogs. Please check out our dogs.
Adopting a friend
We do not use a long, drawn-out adoption application, but ask that you tell us VIA EMAIL in your own words why you like a particular dog and what kind of home environment you will have for it: house/apartment, yard/fence, rent/own, other pets/vet status, family/children(ages), have you rescued before, who is at home most of the time, anything that will help us make a good decision for a new home. Pictures of the home environment are appreciated.
We do not adopt puppies (under 10 months old) to apartments. Just too much opportunity for things to go wrong. We will adopt a small adult dog to an apartment depending on the dog's personality as we have come to know it. We do not adopt to singles under 21.
Our Adoption Fee varies depending on the situation. Generally, our purebred dogs are $110 and our mixed breeds are $95. We discount for families in our local area. We will try to help with transport in a 200-mile radius of Coleman by meeting you half-way for a small mileage fee.
Come Visit Us!
Coleman is in West Central Texas about 45 minutes from Abilene (I-20) and about 3-1/2 hours from Dallas, Austin or San Antonio. We're a quiet little town of about 5,000 and easy to find. We have a wonderful thrift store with bargains you won't believe. The store helps us support out discounted spay/neuter program. Worth the trip!
