WHAT A SUCCESS!!

Since our inception A Different Breed has found loving homes for approximately 2000 animals. WE CAN'T THANK OUR VOLUNTEERS ENOUGH FOR ALL THE HARD WORK AND DEDICATION THEY HAVE PROVIDED OVER THE YEARS, WITHOUT THEM NONE OF THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN POSSIBLE!

Who We Are A DIFFERENT BREED ANIMAL RESCUE

CORRECTING THE PROBLEM AT THE SOURCE
THE STATISTICS: In 2003, the city of Dallas impounded 32,738 dogs and cats. Out of these, 26,157 were killed by lethal injection. At A Different Breed Rescue we believe the solution to this epidemic is simple: Stop the births! Spay one female dog or cat at four months of age and in seven years you have prevented 7,300 births. Cats and dogs are born faster than they can be adopted. In January 2012, on any given day there were approximately 90.000 animals listed for adoption in the DFW metroplex area.
OUR MISSION IS TO ADDRESS THE TRAGIC CONSEQUENCES OF PET OVERPOPULATION BY FOCUSING ON STERILIZATION, ADOPTION AND EDUCATION.
We work with city animal services, other rescues and community groups to rescue cats and dogs in danger of euthanasia. We place the animals in foster homes until they are ready for adoption
We facilitate and host offsite adoptions to present the animals to the public in an effort to find the animals the perfect home, a good fit, where they will be a part of the family.
We educate the public on the necessity of pet sterilization and responsible pet ownership. We provide the series of shot for the animal; at four months of age we provide a rabies shot, a micro chip and a heart worm test at Alma animal hospital, Texas Coalition for Animal Protection, or Cause For Paws in Greenville Tx. At six months of age we provide spay/neuter services. If the adopter lives to far to partake of our services we provide recommendations and references for low cost spay/neuter clinics whenever we can.

Adopting a friend

Our adoption fee is $90 for cats and between $ 200-$ 250 for dogs. All dogs and cats are spayed or neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and dewormed. All dogs are heartworm tested and on heartworm preventative. All of our cats are tested for feline leukemia and feline immunodeficiency virus. If a health issue arises immediately after adopting we request that the adopter notifies us immediately so we can provide medical care at Alma Animal hospital@ Almaanimalhospital.com. WE THANK EVERYONE AT ALMA ANIMAL HOSPITAL FOR PROVIDING MEDICAL CARE FOR OUR RESCUES! THEY HAVE MADE REGULAR MEDICAL CARE AND SPAY/NEUTER SERVICES POSSIBLE FOR US!
