Our Featured Pet...

Little Al has been in our adoption program for 2 years due to no fault of his own. Why has he been past over for so long? Good question, the only reason we can think of is because he is a black dog. For some reason they are usually harder to place. I personally look for the personality not color in my pets. If you want an affectionate boy he is the dog for you! Plus he is small for a male, appx. 50 lbs and shorter than most males. Won't you please consider adopting Al?

News

We currently have 2 dogs that are costing us a lot of money!!! Noel's medicine alone is $150.00 per month. We believe Hoover was born with a birth defect that made his growth plate in his front left leg stop growing, the only way to correct this problem is with surgery, which we cost $3,500.00! If you could please help us, we would really appreciate it!!! Our group is extremely small!! Every penny we receive goes straight to either the dog's food or medical bills.

Who We Are

Greyhound Pets of America North Texas is a chapter of the national Greyhound Pets of America Organization. GPA is the largest Greyhound Adoption agency in the United States. We work with the Greyhound Racing Industry to find homes for Greyhounds that are either retired or no longer qualify to race. We consider ourselves to be Pro-Greyhound, this means that we do not take a stance on the issue of Greyhound Racing.

Adopting a friend

The biggest myth about Greyhounds is that they require a very big yard to run in. This is not the case, Greyhounds are not called the "45 mph couch potato" for nothing! The typical Greyhound is satisfied with either a few walks a day or a few trots around their yard. Then they will come inside and take a nap. Most are also happy to have a few soft toys to throw around the house. If you would like to adopt a Greyhound, please visit our website for an online application. Once your application is submitted, a volunteer will call you and discuss your circumtances and which Greyhound we feel will best fit your lifestyle/home life. Our adoption fee is $225.00 for Greyhounds aged 7 and below. Our senior's adoption fee is $150.00. All of our dogs are vetted and treated for any injuries/illness prior to being available for adoption. Your newly adopted Greyhound will come with a matching martingale collar and leash, turnout muzzle and adoption manuel.
