Skippy is a great tri-color mix Terrier. He loves people and other dogs and is a friendly companion. He has been in the house without incident, but stays outside most of the time. It would not take much to train him. He is obedient and with time and attention will be a great friend and family pet.
RRCHS teamed up with the PETsMART Adoption Program in the spring of 2005, and has been very successful matching our wonderful canine and feline friends with loving people. We do adoptions at the Rockwall, TX, PETsMART, North Service Rd. at Ridge Road Exit, the second Saturday from Noon to 4PM. We are at the Texarkana, TX, PETsMART the third Saturday of the month from Noon to 4PM. We invite anyone in the area to come by and check out our adoptable friends.
RRCHS is a small group of volunteers who struggle to control the population of unwanted dogs and cats in a rural area of northeast Texas. As with all small animal rescue operations, we struggle financially as well as with a very limited volunteer base. We have been in existance since 1997 and succeeded ingetting the City of Clarksville to open an animal shelter in 2001, which, given the limited resources, is fairly decent for a small town of less than 3,000. We offer a low-cost sterilization program and give out almost 500 spay/neuter vouchers a year. With our newly-purchased van, we take our foster friends to several different PETsMART locations every Saturday for adoptions.
RRCHS has a variable adoption fee, plus $5.00 for each shot administered to the animal prior to adoption, including rabies. We do require spay/neuter, and a fenced yard.
RRCHS does not have it's own facility, but fosters dogs at volunteers' homes. We are located in Clarksville, TX, 30 miles east of Paris and 60 miles west of Texarkana on Hwy. 82 in northeast Texas (120 miles northeast of Dallas)
To visit us, please call 903-966-2275 and a volunteer will get back with you.
