Rescued Friends, Inc. is a small non-profit 501(c)3 group comprised of volunteers who dedicate themselves to rescuing animals. We are a "no kill" rescue group, operating solely on donations. We do not receive any type of government or institutional funding. Our volunteers foster our rescue animals in their own homes. Our rescue animals are introduced to other animals and then socialized within their foster family. We normally spay/neuter each animal before they are adopted, with a few exceptions. We provide all our rescue dogs with medical treatment, good food, exercise, love and all the socialization they need. For us to continue our level of care, your help is needed.
Each of our animals is adopted as an indoor family pet, not as an outdoor animal, not for breeding or fighting. Each adopted animal must be spayed/neutered, even full breed or pedigreed animals. This is not an optional procedure, and it is mandated by city ordinances. The full adoption process is required for each applicant. Adopters are expected to keep their new pet current on all vaccinations, heartworm prevention and other vet care as needed. Each pet should be fed a high-quality dog food. Foods that list cornmeal as a primary ingredient are not typically what we would consider high quality. Some good brands include Eukanuba, Nutro, and Pro Plan.
When Adopting a New Friend from us, our adoption process consists of filling out a pre-adoption questionnaire, which is then reviewed by the foster parent. An interview will then be scheduled. If approved, then the adoption contract will be signed and the adoption fee paid. Our adoption fee for dogs is $125 and up. Our adoption fee for cats is $50.00 and up.
Adopting From Us Means: All cats and kittens receive 2 sets of shots, Rabies shot, testing for Leukemia, and spay or neuter. All receive a thorough examination at a local veterinarian. Kittens are not adopted out unless they are spayed or neutered first.
All dogs and puppies receive 3 sets of shots, Rabies shot, testing for heartworms, and spay or neuter. If they are too young for spay or neuter, adopters receive a coupon for spay or neuter.
Rules & Guidelines for Adoption:
- We do not adopt to mobile homes or apartments
- We have the right to refuse any adoption we deem as unsafe for the animal
- We do not allow our cats to be declawed, unless you adopt one previously declawed
- We do not generally adopt to families with children under 6 years of age
Adoption Fee Includes: Vet records. Age appropriate shots. Heartworm preventive up to date (or being treated for heartworm). Any other vet care needed while in our care. Any training given while in our care.
