Foster Parents Needed!

Currently we're looking for foster homes for some adult cats who need some extra TLC. Kess, a 12-year old ragdoll mix, recently lost her owner and is very sad. We also have just accepted a beautiful seal-point, blue-eyed, medium-haired Siamese kitty rescued from the streets - she is friendly but a bit shy still. If you could keep one or more kitties for one to three weeks, please e-mail us or call 214-763-0001. We will supply you with food, litter, and other supplies.

Discount Adoption Fees for Retirees

If you're 60 or better and thinking of adopting a cat, ask us about our lower adoption fees for mature adoptors. It's better than the 2 for 1 early dinner special at IHOP! Adoption fees for seniors begin at $50 - a $45 discount - and if you adopt an older or "special needs" cat, you may qualify for an even lower fee.

Sorry, We're Full

Due to monetary constraints and slow adoption numbers, we are unable to accept any new cats/kittens at this time. Please contact one or more of the other DFW-area groups listed here at Petfinder by clicking on the "Shelter and Rescue Groups" link at the top of Petfinder's home page (you can search by zip code).

If you are able to keep your cat or kitten while we help you look for a new owner, e-mail us at hairball AT texaspawprints DOT org.

Who We Are

We are a small, informal 501(3)(c) non-profit rescue group. We specialize in rescuing cats and kittens deemed unacceptable by animal control facilities and other groups.

These animals may simply be the wrong color - for example, black cats often take longer to rehome - or they may have special needs. They may be FIV positive, have a chronic medical condition or physical scars acquired before rescue, or recovering from an abusive past.

We welcome new volunteers in any capacity, and promise to be really nice to you and to buy you a Starbucks as often as possible.

Adopting a Lifetime Friend

Our adoption fee is $95. Before being offered for adoption, each cat or kitten will receive at least one set of vaccinations, a blood test for FIV and Feline Leukemia, plus treatment for fleas and worms if needed. Adult cats will be spayed/neutered when offered for adoption, while kittens' spay/neuter operations are covered by the $95 fee. We will arrange for you to take your kitten to one of our partner veterinarians when old enough to be spayed/neutered.

Adopt-a-Pets

NEW! We've expanded to Rockwall! Visit the Rockwall Petsmart and check out the adoption center, where we keep up to six cats and/or kittens for you to meet. We also are setting up Saturday adoptions at Rockwall but we REALLY need some volunteers. Please e-mail us at hairball@texaspawprints.org if you can spend a few hours on Saturdays helping. We're also still doing Saturday adoptions twice monthly at the Petsmart at 5500 Greenville Ave from 11:00 to 3:00! Please call 469-232-2030 to see if it's "our" Saturday. Generally we are at the Petsmart at 5500 Greenville Avenue the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month, plus every Sunday.

If you're considering adopting a cat or kitten you've seen in our Petfinder listings, let us know and we'll make sure to bring them to Petsmart for a personal introduction.

Our shelter (located near the Knox/Henderson exit off Hwy 75) is open Mondays-Saturdays by appointment only as most of our volunteers work full-time. However, we are happy to accommodate you, and can even arrange to bring one or more cats to your own home. Please call ahead at 214-912-2573 to make sure we can meet you.

Our e-mail at info AT texaspawprints DOT org is checked daily.
