This letter came from Ohio but it can happen in any state. Please read! Greetings! Hi everyone, It is Spring and warmer weather is coming. I would like to remind everyone, tell your friends, neighbors, relatives, everyone, NEVER EVER go away from home and leave you dog/s outside. Put them in the house or basement, or a safe secured place out of the view of the public eye. There are what is called "bunchers" that are continually out patroling for dogs and yes "your" dog. Bunchers steal family pets. When they get a "bunch", they sell them to research for a heavty price. Average is $200-400 per dog. Domesticated dogs make the best dogs for research. These ruthless people, monitor your area, your routine and watch for dogs for when they are left outside. They normally travel in pairs, one buncher drives, the other jumps out and snatches the dog. Dog Pelts, last month in Ohio, 14 dogs were found skinned and animal control felt their pelts could have been the reason. Pelts are put on cloths and are popular in many countries. There are also dog fighters that gather dogs and cats and use them as bait to get their fighting dog ready for a fight. Dog fighting purses range from $20,000-$50,000 per fight. There are also ruthless people that would snatch your dog and sell it on the black market for pets. The economy is an issue and many are looking for ways to make money. I can't stress enough how important it is to secure your pets when your not home and watch them when you are home. A dog can be snatched in a matter of seconds. ================================================================================================================ Yorkie and Small Dog Rescue is an all-volunteer 501 (c) (3) Non Profit organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of abused, abandoned and otherwise homeless dogs. We are located in the suburbs of Houston/Conroe and the Eastern part of TX. where dogs are fostered in individual homes. Yorkies are our main rescues. All dogs are spayed or neutered and are up to date on all shots before they can be placed in a new home. We require an application and a home visit plus an adoption fee. Adoption fees vary with each dog. If you see any dog that is being fostered by us, please ask for an application as we do not allow people to just come see the dogs without one. We never guarantee that the dogs are totally housebroken, as a pet placed in new surroundings will often need to be gently worked with. Yorkies do not respond to harsh treatment. This will only make matters worse. If you are one that feels that you can overlook accidents than a yorkie may be right for you. Very small yorkies are not recommended for small children. We perfer children to be over 5 years old. We all have other jobs and duties so please understand that it takes time to process applications and get back with people. If you don’t hear from us in a reasonable amount of time, please contact us again. With the abundance of mail we get, some mail can get lost. It is very rare that a puppy will come into rescue. Most rescues are at least a couple of years old and many are seniors. Seniors make wonderful pets too. We do not adopt out of state so please check the pets listed with national rescue groups. Thank you so much for your interest in a rescued dog. They usually are so grateful to be back in a wonderful home. Our mission is to save as many as we can especially those that have no other options. We would love to be in a position to never have to say no to one who would otherwise die. We can only achieve this because of YOU!! Have a good day and God Bless.
================================================================================================================ WANTED FOSTER PARENTS! By providing temporary foster care to a dog in need, you’re helping to ensure a bright future for that dog. There are little out-of-pocket costs to providing foster care. We provide medication and veterinary care. As a foster-care provider, you’re asked to give love, care and time in a safe and nurturing environment. Each case is different. The length of time a dog will spend in foster care depends upon its age, condition and ability to heal. But in ALL cases, you’re giving a dog the second chance he deserves.
