Who We Are
The City of Corsicana is located approx. 55 miles south of Dallas on Interstate 45. Corsicana has had an animal shelter in the city for many years, but it had previously been operated by the Navarro County Humane Society until 2003. On July 1st, 2003 the City of Corsicana took over operations and placed the shelter under the Police Department who were already supervising animal control. We currently have a very dedicated and caring staff, who do their very best to find forever homes for as many animals in our care as possible.
Adopting a friend
If you are interested in any animal that you have seen on our site, please contact the animal shelter at (903) 654-4928, to find out more information. To adopt, you will complete an adoption application which will be reviewed by staff. If approved, you will be asked to fill out and sign a sterilization agreement stating that you will have the animal neutered within 30 days of adoption or if a puppy or kitten is chosen by the time the animal is 6 months of age. Adoption fees are $55.00 per animal. Adoption fees include current basic vaccinations, Heartworm or Feline Disease testing if old enough, microchipping, and de worming. City license is required for all animals within the city limits of Corsicana. This fee will also be waived for animals adopted from the shelter. Spay/neuter assistance information is available. Organizations such as The Humane Society of Navarro County and NCARF may assist with the cost of spaying and neutering animals not adopted from a shelter. Additional paperwork for such programs may be required
Come Visit Us!
We are located at 617 S. 12th Street directly across from the City barn. For those that are not local, when you get to Corsicana get on Hwy. 31 (W. 7th Ave.). There is a traffic light at Hwy. 31 and S. 12th Street. Turn south and travel about three blocks. You will see the City barn and right across the street, on the left, is the animal shelter. We would love to have you come and look at our animals.
