Shelter Hours
Open Sunday from 1-6 pm, Monday from 1-5 pm, and Thursday and Friday from 1-6pm. Please contact us by phone or email for an appointment. If you are coming out to the shelter, please call ahead to ensure that we will be there to serve you. We sometimes have to leave the shelter during business hours to save an animal.

Our shelter has been named - The Frank Barchard Memorial Animal Shelter

We're in Wolfe City off of Hwy. 11. Look for the Mt Carmel Cemetery Sign.
Dogs: All our dogs are spayed or neutered, up to date on shots, and microchipped. They have been tested for heartworms and kept on heartworm preventative. They also come with a 30-day health insurance policy with a valid email address. The standard adoption donation for dogs is $125.00, which helps defray some medical costs and also helps us care for other dogs in our shelter.
Cats: To visit with our cats, please give us a call at 903-496-2412. Some of our cats are placed at the Pet Sense Store in Sulphur Springs and Petco in Allen and can be adopted there. Other cats are housed in our special cat room at the shelter and you may visit with them there. The standard adoption fee for cats is $50.00. All our cats are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations, negative for feline leukemia, microchipped and come with a 30-day health insurance policy with a valid email address.
All potential adopters are screened for suitable placement of animals. The Frank Barchard Animal Shelter (CHA) reserves the right to refuse placement of any animal for any reason. We reserve the right to reclaim animals for one year after placement.
It is the responsibility of the Commerce Humane Association to place each pet within an environment that is suitable to both animal and adoptive family.
In order to be considered as an adoptive family, you must:
Be at
least 18 years old and have the consent of all adults in the home.
Be
able to spend the time and money required to provide a loving and
responsible home for this pet.
