HCAL/ SPCA Mission: To eliminate the overpopulation of unwanted dogs and cats in the greater Kendall County area by providing low-cost spay/neuter services, animal adoptions and public education.
Hill Country Animal League/ SPCA is a 501-C-3 non-profit organization, which was founded and incorporated in 1986 in Boerne, Texas. We currently operate a spay/neuter clinic at 924 North Main in Boerne, which is open to the public for low-cost spay services. In order to help fund this clinic, we also operate a Thrift Store in Boerne. Contact us for more information on services and programs.

Jennifer Blackson, Animal Services Manager
Hours: Monday-Friday 8 am to 5 pm/P>
It has been a busy year for spays. Through June 2010, we have altered 899 dogs and puppies, and 2,000 cats and kittens. We also expanded our surgical suite late in 2009 in order to accommodate two surgical teams at one time and increase the number of surgeries we can do each day.
Since we are not a shelter, we have a foster program to help animals find new, loving homes. Many of the staff participate in this activity and we work daily with other rescue agencies and TNR programs for cats. We host affiliated pet adoption activities on saturdays. Our Boerne venue is at Petland on South Main St from ten to three. In San Antonio, adoptions are held from noon to five at the PetsMart I-10/DeZavala location.
Adoption events are held on most Saturdays from 10-3, and you can adopt that special family member from the agencies who sponsor cats and kittens, dogs and puppies. Dog adoption fees range from $150 to $250 and include all vet services such as vaccinations, testing, worming, flea prevention, spay or neuter surgery and microchipping. Cat adoption fees are $90 to $125 and include all vet services such as vaccinations, testing, worming, flea prevention, spay or neuter surgery and microchipping. Potential adopters are screened to ensure that each pet goes to a home that best matches its needs. Most adoptions are in the local area only.
We make sure that education materials are available for adopters and are always willing to help folks with pet issues such as training, and flea or heartworm prevention. We also sponsor the Kind News in all area elementary and middle schools to teach children respect for their world and the creatures in it.

Hours: Tuesday (starting 10/04/11), Thursday and Saturday 10am-3pm
The Thrift Store has updated its look and become better organized and more customer-oriented in the past year. We have installed a new check-out with new cash registers, and credit card machines. Friendly and informed cashiers greet customers and provide assistance as needed. It takes lots of hands to process and price all the thrift items which are generously donated by the community, and we are always happy to find new volunteers to help with these tasks. Value-oriented customers always love to shop at the BEST thrift store in Boerne for clothing, collectibles, and many household items as well as furniture. We are open Tuesday through Saturday for donations, and on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday for retail sales from 10-3. Call 830-249-8040 for donation information or to volunteer. A map to the store is available on Mapquest or your mobile device.
