Adopting a Friend

Visit our shelter and find a furry friend to take home with you! The adoption fee includes: spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations (including rabies), 30-day Pet Insurance, Pet Behavior Advice and an Adoption Kit! (If you are a senior, be sure ask about our Purina Pet For People Program. Purina picks up $50 of the adoption fee.)

Adoption Requirements:

You must be 18 years or older.
You must be primarily responsible for the pet.
(We do not adopt pets out for gifts to others).

Adoption Fees:

Cats: $85
Dogs: $95
Seniors (older than 5 years): $50
Lonely Hearts Club: animals who have been at the shelter for 60+ days: $50

Who We Are

The Humane Society of Central Texas is committed to improving the quality of life for animals and people in Central Texas through humane sheltering, community education and advocacy on behalf of all animals. In addition to adopting one of our pets, there are many ways you can help:

Volunteer: A variety of volunteer opportunities are available including Tender Loving Care (walking dogs and playing with cats), fostering, adoption counseling, fundraising and clerical. All volunteers must be 18 years of age or older. Training may be required for some volunteer jobs. Internships are also available.
Donate: We accept all animals brought to us and rely on donations to provide food, shelter and humane care and to support our educational programs. Persons may join our Friends of the Animals or donate directly. Gifts in memory or honor of pets and persons are gladly accepted. Product donations of paper towels, bleach, dog and cat food, blankets and towels may be dropped off at the shelter location. Credit cards, cash and checks are accepted. Please contact the Humane Society on Circle Road by mail, phone or e-mail with any questions.
Become a Member: Membership in Friends of the Animals is available for a fee of $50 per individual, $65 per family, $25 for students or senior citizens. Members receive a quarterly newsletter and a Friends decal.
