S.A.F.E. House Rescue and Adoption

S.A.F.E. House exists to rescue and rehabilitate abandoned, abused and unwanted dogs that might otherwise be euthanized due to illness, injury or overpopulation and place them in loving, permanent homes.

We also exist to educate the public about spaying and neutering of animals, heartworm and flea prevention, and behavioral issues regarding dogs & puppies.

How Can I Help?

With the financial support of mutual animal lovers like you, we are able to continue our work in saving homeless, sick and injured dogs. Each life we save is precious and one step further in the positive direction of ending animal cruelty and euthanasia. 100% of all donations go directly to the care of our animals. If you would like to make a donation, please click the button below.

THANK YOU S.A.F.E. HOUSE VOLUNTEERS....

Attention!

We will not be holding adoptions on Saturday, July 4th, at the Petsmart in the Woodlands. We will, however, continue to accept via email applications on all our dogs!

SPAY & NEUTER INFORMATION !!!

Montgomery County has a wonderful low cost spay/neuter clinic. You do not need to be a resident of Montgomery County. Prices are $60 for spays and $40 for neuters. All animals must be current on vaccinations, proof is required. Phone number to call for an appt. is (936)442-7738. They are located at I45 and 242 in The Woodlands.

We completely support this effort being made by Montgomery County to reduce the overpopulation and thereby reduce the number of animals euthanized each year.

OUR PET OF THE MONTH...

LISKA!

Liska came to us when a S.A.F.E. House volunteer found her wandering the streets with a pack of stray dogs. She is a beautiful little girl with amber eyes and a super soft coat. Liska is loving life in her foster home where she is working on her housetraining and crate training. Liska regards herself as part of the family and does not like to be left alone in the backyard. If left alone, she will dig out. Liska wants nothing more than to hang out with her foster mom or play with the 4 year old boy in her foster home. At the end of a busy day, Liska loves to cuddle with her people.

Liska has been working on her basic commands and so far she knows sit, shake, no, off, and drop it. She does shows a fair amount of dominance when around other dogs, so if there is another dog in the home, a submissive male would be preferred. Liska is a very smart, spunky and affectionate little girl. She will make a great pet for an active family.

FOSTER HOMES GREATLY NEEDED

S.A.F.E. House is actively looking for new foster homes to help us save dogs and pups! Please contact us if you are interested in learning more about being a foster parent.

WHO WE ARE

We are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Our primary focus is saving dogs in shelters who are set to be euthanized. Unfortunately millions of loving, adoptable, healthy dogs are put to sleep every year because there simply are not enough homes. We are not a shelter, our dogs are housed in foster homes until they are adopted so they can begin working on basic social skills such as house manners and walking on a leash.

S.A.F.E. is an acronym for Saving Animals From Euthanasia.

One dog at a time, we aim to reduce the local shelter population in Houston, TX and the surrounding areas, by finding shelter animals permanent loving homes.

ADOPTING A FRIEND

Our adoptions are mostly done at our adoption locations at PETCO stores on the weekends. We have an application form for potential adopters to complete. Our adoption fee is $95.00 per animal. For this amount, we provide the following for each one of the pets: health-check by a veterinarian, any necessary vaccinations (depending on the age of the pet), spaying/neutering, check for heartworms, and microchipping. As of Jan 1st, the adoption fee for puppies will be $120.00. This fee will include a 4-6 week pre-paid puppy class. We work with 3 different trainers that are willing to offer their puppy classes to our puppies at a discount. We will pay that fee directly to the trainer once you enroll in a puppy class. Should you choose a trainer of your own, we will contribute $40 to the expense of the class. This adoption fee will also include all of the above exams, vaccinations and alterations as our adult dogs. S.A.F.E. House does NOT arrange for transport of pets to other states, etc. We primarily adopt to those who live in Houston and its surrounding areas.

PLEASE COME VISIT US!

We do not have a shelter facility. ALL of our pets available for adoption are kept in foster homes until they are adopted. However, you are welcome to call or email us for more information on the pet you are interested in, or better yet, please come by and see us at our adoption locations: We are at PETSMART, The Woodlands (Portofino Shpping Center)- the 1st & 3rd Saturdays from 11am - 4pm, or at PETCO at Hwy 249 & Spring Cypress on the 2nd & 4th Saturdays from 12pm - 4pm.
