Partnership For Pets

Our Pet List

PLEASE READ OUR BASIC ADOPTION CRITERIA BEFORE YOU SELECT A PET:

All pets in the home must be spayed/neutered, current on all vaccinations and deworming and on monthly Heartworm preventative and flea/tick preventative. All pets must have some identification such as tags, tattoo or microchip.

Your yard must be securely fenced unless you live in a townhome/duplex/ apartment. Even if you live outside the city limits, you must have a secured area for the pet. If you rent or lease, we must have the approval of the manager or owner of the property for you to have a pet in this situation.

Puppies very seldom will be adopted to families with children under the age of 5 years of age due to the fact that puppies have sharp teeth and nails that can scratch the tender skin of a child.

Once you select a pet, you will be asked to fill out an adoption application which we can e-mail or FAX to you. We will ask you to provide contact information for a veterinarian reference and a personal reference which we will call and to send photographs of your home, house numerals yard/fencing. Once all of these steps are approved, we will schedule someone to visit you in your home. This home visit will be facilitated by one of our volunteers or a volunteer from another rescue group. In some situations, we will do a follow-up visit after adoption. We are looking for families who can commit to the lifetime care and love of a particular pet that is matched with them.

We always like to hear from our adopters after they take their new pet home. We enjoy receiving e-mails and photographs of the family and their new pet member. Send an email with your "happy tails" to Partnership for Pets.

Who We Are

PARTNERSHIP FOR PETS is a 501 c3 non-profit organization that rescues from kill shelters in our community and other communities in Texas. Our main goals are to save the animals that are left behind by the community either as strays or pets relinquished to the shelters and to educate the public on proper pet care and responsibilities. Pets are not disposable! The adoption of a pet is a lifetime commitment with the adopters agreeing to work through any difficulties and issues. This is why we are so particular about the placement of our pets and why we take such care to find that right family for each pet. Adopters who are responsible and well-informed about pet caregiving are who we are looking to find.

Adopting a friend

The basic adoption fees are $200.00 and up for puppies and dogs and $125.00 and up for kittens and cats. These fees cover spay/neuter, vaccinations, deworming, Heartworm or FLK-AIDS testing, microchipping and monthly preventatives while the pet are in our care. Adoptions fees may vary depending on any extensive vet care that may be deemed necessary. Each canine arrives home with a collar, ID tag and leash. There are some pets who have a higher adoption fee than OUR BASIC FEE due to additional veterinary charges such as teeth cleaning, boarding, Heartworm Treatment, etc. and services such as professional grooming. MAKE SURE your talk with one of our volunteers about the adoption fee for the pet about whom you are inquiring. Upon approval to adopt, you will be required to sign a legally binding adoption contract. PLEASE read this contract carefully and at the time of signing ask the volunteer any questions about the contract .

All of our pets have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, tested for Heartworms (canines over age 6 months), tested for FLK-AIDS (felinea), given monthly Heartworm and flea/tick preventatives up-to-date and microchipped (canines). The dogs will go home with a collar, ID tag and a leash. PETCO provides a coupon book with two coupons for food for the pet, plus other coupons for pet items. We do our best to make sure each pet is house and crate trained. We do out-of-area adoptions and out-of-state adoptions; however, there are additional steps and fees in these cases, so contact a volunteer to discuss the process and the extra fees.
